So this is how it all started in this beautiful country of Sri Lanka. This was a long planned trip we did our booking in October 2019, the round trip cost us around 15k. Travel Trip- Always book your tickets from wego. So here is the teaser look at my itenary: We decided to cover- Colombo>Ella>Mirissa>Hikkaduwa>Colombo. So it was our initial go trip planner. For the first 2 nights we stayed in Marino Beach Hotel, which we booked with makemytrip. We landed in colombo near 4:30 pm and from hotel only we pre-booked the cab which took us to the hotel. So for the night we decided to relax in hotel.
The morning was done right by relaxing by the pool and then we headed to the benatota. So here is a tip: before booking a tuk tuk try checking the price on the pick me app or you can book the tuk tuk or taxi via app itself. We headed to Bentota it took near around 2 hours to reach there. We relaxed on the beach, click some photos and headed for a lunch buffet in Avani Bentota Resort. If you are vegetarian, it can be a bit tuff as there are limited option.
So after river safari we headed back to Colombo in night near around 8pm. We had a dinner from the marino mall and next day was going to be a long one.
Day 3 was exciting we rushed towards the colombo fort station in the morning to board scenic train which will take us to Ella. We pre booked our tickets via tripadvisor for the first class near around 6k the price was bit high for us. They also delivered our tickets to our hotel in Colombo. Travelers usually halt in kandy, as we were short on time we decided to go direct to ella. We stayed in ella for 2 nights and explored the places like Little adams peak, Tea plantations, and Nine arch Bridge. Ella is such a night city, all liit up. The must try cafes are-CAFE CHIL and ICE CUBE.
Now here we come for the day 5. So we have to wake up 5 in the morning just to board a bus that directly took us to MATRa. So here i wanna clear some confusion about the most speculated bus to MATRA. So this specific bus comes around 6:45am . We boarded the bus from ella bus station, which was near to our hotel. So here is interesting fact about the sri lankan buses- quite cheap and fast but bit crowded. That was a long journey which took 5 hours to drop us to matra bus station. From there we book a tuk tuk and headed towards our hotel. We explored the nightlife in mirissa. We booked beach side hotel paragon beach hotel via booking.com. We stayed there for 2 nights and next day we headed to hikkaduwa. We experienced a tuff morning just to board a taxi for hikkaduwa. Just a tip from my side don't use pick me app in mirissa and hikkaduwa.. though you can check the price on the app and try to negotiate with the tuk tuk drivers.
Day 6
After having a bath we headed towards the galle fort for our sunset scenes and there i watched best sunset of my life. We strolled on the streets. This will give you a glimpse of french architecture or i can say it was same but modernise version of pondicherry. In hikkaduwa you can explore- beach of course, turtle hatchery (personally i don't like it). The day 6 was a relaxation day for us. We stayed in the pool, shopped for souvenir as it was the last day and booked a taxi to colombo airport which costed us 7k sri lankan rupee. We booked taxi from the locals as they dont allow pick me cab drivers in that region. Over all it was a nice experience... my first international can't be better than that.
