Day 1

I have now been travelling solo in europe for past two years. These 24 months of traveling on a tight budget through some of the most expensive cities in world have taught me many things about traveling. So long story short, this blog will explain you everything about traveling solo or as a group. How to plan, food and accommodation expenses, transportation passes, intercity and inter country trains , cheapest airlines and everything in between.

After reading this blog hopefully you will know how much your europe trip will cost you.

PLANNING THE TRIP-

Book everything in one month advance that will surely help your budget.

ACCOMODATION

I use few websites for accommodation like booking.com, hostelworld.com and airbnb.com.

For solo travellers hostels are cheaper options and you interact with like minded people.

PRICE- hostels cost generally 10-25 euro(1000-2000INR)per night depending on the city and location.

airbnb cost approximately 40 euro(3000INR) per night for 2 person. ( prices change from city to city but this is an average idea)

So check the websites and find suitable options for you. Check my other posts for more accurate prices on specific cities.

FOOD-

Fast food like mcdonalds, burger king, kfc- meal for one in these restaurant costs approximately 8-10 euros (700-800 INR)

In a authentic local restaurant a meal would cost you 15-20 euro(1500 INR) and these prices can easily go upto 50-100 euro depending on the restaurant.

TRANSPORTATION-

Once you are in europe changing countries gets easier you don’t even notice until you see signboards in different language.

AIRLINES

‘ryanair’ and ‘wizzair’ are two cheapest airlines that operate within europe and prices get as cheap as 1000INR(12 euros).

Like my flight from Berlin to rome cost me around 1000INR.

So check these airlines before booking those long bus or train journey it can save you money and time. I will post some pictures of flight tickets which i am checking right now for my next trip.

TRAINS AND BUSES

Trains and buses are very efficient in europe. There are inter country buses and trains available from anywhere in europe. The best website for this purpose is omio.com which was earlier known as goeuro.com . It shows all trains and buses and works everywhere in europe.

TRANSPORTATION PASS-

when you are in any city in europe you can buy 24 hour, 72hour, weekly pass depending on your needs in most of the cities it works in trams , buses and metro within the city. It costs around 8 euros(650INR) in most of the cities like paris, milan, amsterdam, vienna , munich, barcelona and many others( for 24 hours).

most of the cities you can buy it from the metro station or help desk at airports and railway stations.

So i guess i have answered most of your questions, feel free to ask anything in comments and read my others blogs on specific details on prices in specific cities.
