When to Go
White-water rafting in Goa is a seasonal activity that depends on the rainfall. It usually starts in mid or late June and lasts till mid-September. However, this year, due to the weak monsoon in early June, the rafting season was delayed and is expected to begin this week. So, hurry up and book your slot before it's too late!
Where to Go
The rafting site is located in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, about 50 km from Panaji. You can reach there by your own vehicle or by a shuttle service provided by the rafting operator.
The new meeting/pick-up point for this season is at Cashew House, Nagargao in Valpoi.
What to Expect
The rafting trip is suitable for beginners as well as experienced rafters. You will be guided by trained instructors who will brief you about the safety measures and techniques before you get into the rafts. The trip lasts for about 2.5 hours and covers a distance of 10 km. You will encounter rapids of grade 2 and 3, which are moderate but exhilarating. You will also get to see some amazing wildlife and birds along the way.
How to Book
The rafting operator is Southern River Adventures and Sports Pvt Ltd, which is supported by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). You can directly book your trip online through their website.
They have two trips a day, one at 9:30 am and another at 2:30 pm. The cost per person is Rs 1,800, which includes the rafting gear, safety equipment, snacks and water.
