A small hill station in Himachal Pradesh, Dalhousie is the perfect spot to run away from the city buzz. The beauty of hills and the pleasing cold consoling weather makes the city a pleasant getaway destination during November. One who wants to witness the snowfall and the snow peaked mountain ranges can schedule the tour during the end of December. But for the warm sun rays and morning frost, the fresh winter period is a perfect time.

From Delhi, there are many trains available for Pathankot, that is the only railway station near to the cities of Himachal Pradesh. An overnight journey of 9 to 10 hours via train is all you need to cover half of the destination.

From Pathankot terminal, there are many cabs available to reach Dalhousie. Getting a good transportation in hill station is a bit difficult. To avoid the hustle for the next day, we booked the cab for our complete Dalhousie tour.

Without wasting more time, we quickly proceeded to our destination. The entire route from Pathankot to Dalhousie is a blessing for the nature lover. The mountains, fields and the blue sky with floating clouds were enough to sooth our eyes. The smooth running road with the cold breezes accompanied us during our entire journey. The three-hour journey was packed with picturesque views.

Travelling for approx 12 hours was really difficult. So we decided to spend the day at leisure.

Later in the evening, we went for some shopping and local exploring at Mall road.

Day 2

Next day was for adventure and fun. We started with Dalhousie town. The Satdhara falls listed first in our excursion list. The place is a perfect spot for adventure and fun. The place was crowded but still an ideal place to visit in Dalhousie for picnic and fun. The nearby shops had so beautifully craved handicraft accessories all made from wood. The local and traditional clothes all in different colours and pattern must get some space in your luggage.

Later in the afternoon, we left for Khajjihar that is around 26 km from the town. The mini Switzerland in India, Khajjiar is worth to visit. The larger green area, with a mini Khajjiar lake, all surrounded with dense Deodar trees, Khajjiar has its own appeal. The cafes and restaurants standing at the center of the field were the lifelines of the place.

Many other spots such as Panchpula, Khjji Nag temple, Dainkund peak are there to send the entire day in Khajjiar. But the Lake is the major tourist attraction.

That was all for the day. Later in the evening we return back to our hotel in Dalhousie.

We had planned our trip for 2 nights. So the day was for our departure. Morning, we just spend some time at leisure and in the afternoon we left for Pathankot to board or train. The Journey was amazing and best to relax for a few days away from the crowd of city, somewhere in peace.

Planning for Dalhousie;

• Make your trip short for 2 to3 days. The time is enough to explore the best of the city.

• The morning and evenings are best to witness the natural beauty.

• Pack yourself with some warm clothing, the temperature can drop anytime.

• Good rubber-soled shoes can help you while trekking the distance.
