Started to Sankri , which was the base village for this trek on 6th of Feb for Dehradun. I was part of "The Crazy Mountaineers" which is a renowned Trekking company. We, a group of 13 folks were alloted a Tempo. To reach Sankri it took us around 8-9 hours which is approx 200 kms from Dehradun.
Below are some pics from Our base village Sankri
After reaching Sankri , the network from our mobile phones disappeared. Nothing works there Jio, airtel, vodafone etc etc (Nothing) except BSNL 😅 with just one Bar. We entered a world without technology .
Without Internet , without electricity we had to spent the night. The temperature was around 0-1 degree at night ( as per our trek leader). Later that night we had our dinner and there was a brief session about this trek.
As there was heavy snowfall on 4th , to reach the summit was in doubt, few groups who started before us were unable to reach the summit. With 50-50 mindset we spent the night.
We woke up early and it was freezing 🥶.
Everyone just changed their their outfits and it was just me who took a bath.
We were given amazing breakfast, after which we were provided with trekking gear. After donning our Shoes, Gaiters , spikes etc we started our trek . We headed to our first camp which was around 4kms which took us approx 4-5 hours . It was called "Juda ka Talab"
On route there were 2 Tea points , the cost of each tea is 30 rs ( never paid this amount for a cup of chai) .
After reaching our camp we were provided our tents. After resting there for some time we were given tea and some snacks. Later that night we had our dinner and slept early.
Everyone woke up around 7:30 and many people did not sleep because of the harsh climate. We had our breakfast and headed to our Base Camp.
The distance to the base camp was around 4kms.
We reached our base camp around 2 in the afternoon and we were literally tired as hell.
We took a quick nap, after getting up we were given amazing vegetable soup. That was the best thing which was provided to us as our trek leader was a chef. Everyone enjoyed the meal and interacted with many folks who disappointed us saying that the (climb is too hard) as they have given up.
We holding our confidence , were confident that we will reach the summit no matter what.
Filled with high hopes we went to sleep because it was a very important day tomorrow.
The day , everyone were waiting for.
The distance from our base camp to Summit was around 5kms . We started at around 8 , left our bags in our tents only carried essential items. We met many people on the way, who returned without completing the summit and their words discouraged some from our group.
There were 2 resting points (Tea points) on our way. Out of 12 people from our group 4 had given up. They left us at our base camp and 2 more left us from the last Tea point.
The Distance from the Last Tea point to The Summit was the toughest. There were some words from our trek leader " Mountains look near , but our not" and this was so damn true.
The summit looked so near and it was going far away with every step I took.
Out of breath, tired we reached the summit and it was worth (12, 500 feet)
All the negative thoughts disappeared . It was just positive wind which was hitting us. We spent around 40 minutes in the summit and everyone was just proud of themselves.
