Indian Railways has many oddities. It is the world's third-largest rail network of 127,760 km and also the world's 8th largest employer. And now, the pictures of Navapur railway station shared by Piyush Goyal, railway minister, doing rounds on social media is grabbing our attention.

Navapur is a small town in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. The town's railway station belongs to two different states. Half of the railway station lies in Maharastra and the other half in Gujarat. In fact, the state border cuts right through the station. "Separated by States, United by Railways.", tweeted the railway minister.

There are quite a few amusing things about the Navapur railway station. It is 800 meters long, with 500 meters lying in Gujarat and the rest 300 meters in Maharashtra. All the information is announced in four languages, English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati, to maintain the ease of communication.

Consumption of alcohol and pan masala are prohibited on this station to maintain the state regulations of Gujarat and Maharastra.

Well, this is not the only railway station which geographically belongs to two states. Bhawani Mandi station in Jhalawar district is another such station. The northern part of the station is in Madhya Pradesh, and the Southern part is in Rajasthan.
