Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway: 6-Lane E-Way To Cut Travel Time By 7 Hrs!

Soon, travellers will be able to reach Kolkata from Varanasi in just 7 hours. Yes, you heard it right! Thanks to the proposed Varanasi-Kolkata greenfield expressway. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular upcoming expressway!

Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway: All You Need To Know

The Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway will have six lanes and is a greenfield access-controlled expressway. It will also connect Ranchi to Varanasi and Kolkata and promises to significantly reduce the travel time, almost by half!

Where it took around 12 to 14 hours to travel between the two cities, with this upcoming expressway, it will only take six or seven hours to cover the distance. Starting in Varanasi, the expressway will enter Bihar at Chand, bordering Chaudali in Uttar Pradesh (UP), and exit at Imamganj in Gaya after approximately 160 kilometres.

A five-kilometer tunnel is proposed in the Kaimur hills to cross the Sone River in Tilauthu, Sasaram, and enter Aurangabad via the Grand Trunk road.

Other Important Details That You Would Need To Know About It

This expressway will be named NH319B as per a notification issued by the NHAI. NHAI stands for the National Highway Authority of India. It is being built under the Bharatmala Pariyojana or BMP program and will be parallel to the NH-19.
