I explored this place called Oludeniz lesser known to people especially to people outside Turkey especially Indians, rarely any Indian know about this place famous for its picturesque Blue Lagoon, butterfly valley and calm sea.
This Turquoise Coast destination is an idyllic setting for swimming, sunbathing, diving and paragliding.
This was suggested to me by my hotel owner in Istanbul, he insisted that I should visit this place and I won't regret
So, I took a bus from Antalya to Fethiye which is yet another beautiful town , town to village Oludeniz.
After reaching Fethiye, I booked a taxi to my hotel in Oludeniz.
Architecture is here European style, mostly blue and white. This is not typical Turkey, no monuments; only beaches, party places, markets, good beach facing restaurants.
Cuisine is not primarily Turkish, you find a blend of all cuisines here.
Little about Oludeniz-----
Meaning “dead sea” in Turkish, Oludeniz is a village and beach resort neighbouring the tranquil Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is renowned for its perfect stillness even during storms. One should visit Oludeniz to experience the lagoon’s soothing waters and setting in a national nature reserve. Go scuba diving in underwater caves, paragliding from nearby mountain peaks to see stunning views of the place or simply stretch out on a beach lounge on the shore and enjoy the warmth of the Turquoise Coast sun.
Arrive early to secure a good spot on the sandbar that splits the Blue Lagoon from Oludeniz Beach. Rent a beach lounge and sun umbrella and take in the views. The lagoon’s blue waters lap gently at the shoreline and pine trees line the dramatic mountainside that rises up from the lagoon’s west end. Go swimming or play some water sports or in the lagoon’s warm waters.
Stroll along Oludeniz Beach, a long and pebbly beach with views of the Mediterranean and the Aegean seas. The resort area behind features a strip of restaurants, bars and cafes. Enjoy lunch as you watch yachts cross the bay.
Watch the still water at blue Lagoon beach which is 10 minutes walk from Oludeniz beach.
Just soak yourself in the calmness of the place.
Later you can watch sunset and grab some snacks and drinks by the beach side.
Clubs and restaurants are open till midnight in the Oludeniz, you can walk through the market and decide on the restaurant you wanted to munch in and in the meanwhile you can get some souvenirs or cool tees and shoes of you want.
I explored 3 Indian restaurants there, which was beyond my imagination.
I could not believe that in that small village of Turkey I could find such good and huge Indian restaurants.
The best part of my trip to Oludeniz was 6 island boat trip-----
Writing this, my heart goes there.
It's a day trip from Oludeniz which covers 6 island including butterfly valley.
I got my tickets from the Oludeniz beach which was around 40 USD, You could bargain a bit.
You could find boats at the shore ready to take you on the amazing day trip. You could choose any of the boat. I chose the largest one which could accommodate 150 people at a time.
There were 3 places to sit and enjoy the view and lunch was complimentary.
The boat trip was more of a boat party. You could have drinks, snacks, dance and dive in water at every island.
Had foam party on the boat and danced to some Turkish songs which was just awesome.
