So this winter we took a little risk! We travelled all the way from Dehradun to Auli in winter rains admist of the foggy mountains and it's wet road , damn we witnessed a landslide but later took a sigh of relief!
Welcome to my blog (after a long time), this winter I had some great great experiences! So let's start!!
So we took a govt bus from the bus stand beside the railway station in Dehradun. It was easy to get a bus ticket because it wasn't a rush season in December. Coated around 600/- INR we sat in the bus at around 5:15 in the morning. Via rishikesh-teen dhara- Srinagar-prayag route we were all set for our adventure.
At around 8 we reached teen dhara, a small village sorta place around 30-40 Kms from Rishikesh for our breakfast! And oh the dhaba food reminded me of the last time I visited my village in Tehri, Garhwal.
Next we travelled all the way through prayag and stopped at Srinagar bus stand for late lunch. The roads we wet and maintenance of road was being done.
Around 3 we reached Gopeshwar, Chamoli and had a tea break and you see it was raining all the way through! Not for even a single minute did the rain stop! And suddenly snowfall started.. we rushed to our buses because it was necessary for us to reach Joshimath before it's too late.
Soon after the bus stopped again because of a landslide but God had our back. All the men in bus stood up and pushed the rock aside to clear up the road but unfortunately this took a long and we could only reach a village 6 Kms before Joshimath at 6pm. The bus stopped and couldn't move due to heavy snowfall.
We literally were drowning in the snow as it touched our knees.
Fortunate enough,we found a stay 100m away from where the bus stood.
Took a room and stayed for the night.
With good food and hot water facility we stayed up for the night and enjoyed the snowfall.
The next day we had eggs for breakfast and packed our bags and rushed outside. It was 6km trek to Joshimath. (Unplanned) and thus how beautiful are unplanned adventures.
6km snowy walk. It was waow. Because of all the views we could enjoy.
Our rooms were already booked with Garhwal Mandal hotels. For two days of which we clearly wasted our first day stay.
But it was worth.
The rooms were lavish and of reasonable price. With clean washrooms and hot water facility. We couldn't ask for more.
The food there was tasty as hell! Like literally had a proper lunch this day since we started travelling!
And oh the beauty we could see from the windows.
The only drawback we had was we couldn't visit Auli the same day because we were exhausted and all our shoes were wet and cold. Dried them the whole evening with dryer 😂
Electricity was a problem as due to heavy snowfall there were some problems all over the place. We they managed it by starting up there generator for about 4 hrs. This helped a lot.
The next day we visited Auli via cabel car. Due to heavy snowfall the trek route was closed.
The up and down coated 1000/- INR .
nothing have I ever experienced was so great! The lavish evergreens with milky white snow. Aahh... The best I ever had!
This last year it was very cold in Uttarakhand than winter in previous year. It rained , it snowed and most probably it blew every ones mind.
The place where am standing in the pictures had atleast 12ft of snow... And the places we couldn't go were estimated to be 26-27ft of snow.
It snowed like it never snowed in last 15 years
This trip was memorable and the greatest one of last year.
Last year ended with a bang and this year would also take me to amazing places. Places I haven't been before!
