Bengaluru to Get Its First Double Decker Flyover by June 2023!

The IT city of Bangalore has been growing at a much faster pace to keep up with its citizens, be it with a world-class airport (make it 2!) or its metro network. Infrastructure has always been a priority in this city.

In a latest addition to the city's infrastructure- Bengaluru's first double-decker flyover, after missing the October 2021 deadline is finally set to complete by June 2023!

Where is the double decker flyover located?

The 3.3 km flyover is between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board on Marenahalli Road in South Bangalore.

What is the speciality of the flyover?

The lower deck of the flyover will be used for vehicle moments, while the upper deck will be used for the Namma Metro. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is responsible for the construction of the flyover.

The elevated road will be 8 metres above the current road level, and the Metro line will be 16 metres above the surface.

The structure is part of the Phase-2 project for the 19-kilometre fully elevated RV Road-Bommasandra corridor.

How will the flyover help?

The famous Silk Board is known for it's traffic. The signal free elevated road and the flyover will decongest the area and help with smooth traffic flow.

What is the cost of this flyover and who is funding the same?

The double-decker flyovers will be built at the cost of Rs.507 Cr and is fully funded by the BMRCL.

As per reports, Two more double decker flyovers are likely to come up under the proposed Phase III of the Namma Metro project between Kanakapura Road junction and Sarakki junction over 1.3 km and another one between Kamakya – Ittamadu – Hoskerehalli junction over 1.5 km.

So no more of the working from the cab memes for Bangaloreans.
