My exploration compass has guided me to one of the most beautiful places in Karnataka for some great adventure, The tadiandamol trek. We started from Bangalore at around 11pm and headed towards the location which lies in the in pristine valleys of Coorg in Karnataka. The journey was for 6hrs and we reached our homestay at coorg by 4am.
On reaching the homestay and taking rest for a few hours we started for our trek. Thanks to the homestay to provide us with great breakfast before we started and also packed us lunch to eat after conquering the peak.
Then we started our journey to the peak which is a 45min drive from our home stay. Post reaching the max motarable road point for any pvt vehicle we were given two options, either to take a jeep or skip a 2km trek to the base point or have a hike to the same by foot. We chose the second one. So the trek had started and our journey through the beautiful coffee estates had begun. Though it was a bit tiring but it was just a warm up for the whole group. The real trek started from the base point with lush green hills around you. It was a bit tricky and also a bit difficult for us as we didn’t carry enough amount of water with us. So don’t forget to refill your bottles before you start your trek. Your journey will be through the stones and muddy paths for about 1.5 km. The next part of the trek is through open grass lands. Enjoy the mighty hills around you and also the valleys below you.
After crossing through the open grass field in the sun you enter the air conditioned zone of the peak because you won’t feel the heat of sun in the highly dense part of the hills filled with trees. The area is so dense that the sunlight doesn’t even penetrate through them making the place a natural air conditioned zone. The area is so cool that the rocks around the area give you a feeling that as if you are sitting on an ice cube. Post crossing this paradise you enter the last phase of the trek. This part is a bit difficult. What makes it difficult?, I am sorry as I cant reveal the surprise as one has to feel it by himself/herself to enjoy it. But the relief after the completion of this part it feels heavenly. Finally your journey has come to an end and you have reached a place so far and so above from your starting point. This is the place where get the feeling of scaling the highest peak in the Madikeri Taluk and the 3rd highest peak of the Karnataka State. After a few minutes of rest and having the lunch while enjoying the scenery, we headed back to the base point where the trek concluded.
On reaching back to homestay, we were welcomed with hot cabbage fries and tea. And a great hot shower after the snacks relaxed our muscles completely. It was time for us to enjoy the delicious dinner made for us. The night ended for us with a feast under the carpet of stars with some alcohol (which is self sponsored), pleasant music. We spent the next few hours by sitting around a camp fire and sharing our stories with each other. Thus ended the second day of the trip with a sound and deep sleep.
The Third day started with a great breakfast followed by the journey towards our next stop, the Iruppu waterfalls, Brahmagiri. This is one of the most beautiful and refreshing place that I have ever been to. After we reached the foothills of the hill we headed to the water falls which is not very far. The waters of the waterfalls is so amazing and refreshing that it washed all our tiredness of the day earlier. The water was not just refreshing but it was also extremely cool. We were shivering the second when we stepped in the water which we had overcome after our first bath in the water falls, and then we literally enjoyed every bath in the falls and every dip in the waters of irruppu.
After the refreshing bath we refreshed our stomach with the most loved snack cum appetiser- The maggi noodles before we started back for home. We had lunch on the way before we stopped to try some great type of chocolates and also 32 different flavours of wines like the coffee wine, the betel nut wine, the pineapple wine and many more types. You also get some of the best home grown coffee powder and also great coffee filters. On the way to Bangalore we had to cross madhur which is the home of the most famous madhur vadas which is a great delicacy of Karnataka. The night then ended after a few hours of journey to Bangalore accompanied with some beautiful memories.
Important things to take care in the trip:-
-Do carry minimum two litres of water per head when you are trekking and also carry water filled
-vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes, apples, oranges etc.
-Carry plastic bags to keep your wet clothes.
-Do carry your power banks and make sure that it is fully charged.
-This is the most important one and that is to enjoy the trip to the fullest.
