Kathmandu ; The Himalayan Rendezvous

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal is a beautiful city with sacred temples, golden pagodas, stately palaces, delicious food, shopping Malls, etc. I took an evening Nepal Airlines flight from IGI Airport New Delhi that landed us in 85 min at Tribhuwan Int'l Airport, Kathmandu andbit costed around Rs.6500 one way. I recommend you look for a hotel that offers free pick & drop to airport as taxis charge exorbitantly from airport. I had booked Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kalimati - Teku with a lovely view from the restaurant on the 14th.Floor. Many good hotels are available in less cost.
Lord Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of River Bagmati followed by Guheshwari Temple a kilometre away are venerated by Hindus globally. Definitely visit Swayambhunath atop a hill and Boudhnath Pagoda near Pashupatinath Temple. Budhanilkantha is where idol of Lord Vishnu reclining on a bed of snakes has emerged from the ground. Evenings can be great with shopping in Durbar Marg, New Road, Bhatbhateni, etc. One can take a 2 day trip to lake resort of Pokhara which is 200 kms from Kathmandu ..... 4 hrs drive by road or 30 min flight.
If one is travelling during December to March then one can take a Mountain flight operated as sunrise and sunset tour where they take you for a 30 min flight showing you Everest and 8 of the 14 highest peaks in the world from a distance of 3 kms. It is heavily booked and always take the window seat and carry a good camera. Sunrise flight would be great.
For wildlife lovers there is the famous Chitwan National Park, Sagarmatha National Park (in high Himalayas), Langtang National Park, etc. Nepal is trekkers paradise especially Everest Base Camp (EBC) and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). But its expensive, permissions are needed and physical fitness should be well checked and one should carry all necessary medicines.
