Krishnapuram Palace

Krishnapuram palace build by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma of Travancore dynasty is now a museum under the archaeological department of Kerala. It is in a small village called Krishnapuram which lies 2 kms south of Kayamkulam Town. One who travel through  NH 47 towards eranakulam can see the palace and temple board towards your left side after u passes a few kilometers after Ochira .

The main speciality of the palace is that of the mural painting “ GAJENDRA MOKSHAM ” which is believed to be the biggest of this kind in Kerala.

Krishnapuram palace which is an example of typical kerala architecture is a  mini replica of padmanabhapuram palace which was the headquarters of travancore kingdom.
