Kodai-ji Temple

There are many iconic monuments in Kyoto. Kodai-ji Temple is located in Hiashiyama-ku, Kyoto. The temple belongs to Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism. It is the largest sub-temple of the Kennin-ji branch.

The temple has a stroll garden. One of the main attractions in Kodai-ji Temple is its illumination events. Several times a year, there is a special nighttime illumination. Also, there are several 3D projection mapping shows.

This temple is also a good place to view cherry blossoms. It has a stroll garden, a dry landscape garden, and a Zen rock garden. In addition, there is a beautiful pond, called Soryu-ike, surrounded by rabbit-ear irises.

A classic stroll-style garden surrounds the pond. If you are in the area during spring or summer, you can enjoy the colorful blooms.
