Day 1

So I am writing after ages I guess, now a day it’s becoming hard to write, too many reflections in mind that I cannot pen down. It’s like the ocean wave which shatters before reaching the shore.

Madhya Pradesh has been quite lucky for me in terms of travel and friends. We explored the unexplored hidden gem “Orchha”. It’s just not beautiful, it’s beyond the art effects and History. The massive architectures and civils behind the temples is unbelievable. Orchha is full of stories, Mysteries, Peace, cultures & WOW factors.

We happened to be in Orchha in the first week of March, it was a friend’s wedding. The wedding was too packed with back to back events that it was hard to take out time, but we escaped one morning to see the majesty structures.

We tacked down to know the ancient town, and end up finding the fact that Orchha has been neglected for years. The amount travelers go there is lesser than other MP small towns.

Day 2

The Twin Mahal and Raja Ram Mandir

About afternoon times we commenced for the twin Mahal. These are next to each other called Jahangir & Raja Mahal. As soon as we entered, I was in shock to see the majesty & divine entrance and structure. Post entrance, you can see a water fountain in the middle of the structure, It’s kind of lobby.

If you know a bit of civils you can comprehend the distance and pillars on each side are equal in meters and numbers. The Mahal is not maintained, all the staircases and internal rooms are flicked and scattering out.

If you want to visit the internal rooms, there is no electricity. You may go in the dusty and smelly rooms on your own. However, the view from the top is awestruck. The staircase is like a puzzle you can access any floor from every 50 meters or with a nearby staircase.

The surroundings and nearby market makes this place a tourist spot.

Looking at the confined time, we opted to go for Shree Ram Mandir which was hardly 200 meters from the Mahal. This temple used to be the kitchen in ancient time, it’s said that the queen got the Naive Ram in the kitchen from then it’s called temple. Hundreds of believers come in the temple every day, moderately managed and clean to an extent.

We continued towards the hotel as we were late for a function. Ohh that reminds me to share some look from the wedding.

Day 3

Chaturbhuj Temple

The next day we began for Chaturbhuj temple. This temple was made to admire the king and queen. The magnified structures can be seen from a few kilometers. It’s a little heightened, you need to take stairs to go up. It is said that the temple was created to be Shree Ram temple. But as the queen brought Ram in the kitchen first so he refused to move in some other location. On the other hand, the king refused to go to the Temple to offer prayer to Lord Ram, hence he created Raja Mahal. So from the Mahal’s topmost window he can directly see the shrine to offer his prayer.

You can visit the top most floors of the temple through narrow staircase wider steps, no electricity & a bit scary however the view from the top will make you forget everything. You will feel tiny and misty from the height.

We headed for a glass of Lassi from a local shop and thereafter banged into a house for some homemade lunch which was cheap as well as healthy. You Can opt for some rooftop restaurants as well, but it was really hot to explore rooftop restaurants.

The Chatries

The Chatries which I have desired from starting from the trip. Again made in the memory of king and queen, Just next to Betwa river. There are 14 look-alike structures with Garden each side. It took 2 hours for us for 3 of them as we were collecting some memories in the camera.

It was 5 in the evening and we didn’t want to miss the sunset at Betwa river. We walked about 500 meters to reach Betwa. We spent an hour next to Betwa Arc Bridge and enjoyed the river Aarti and Peace.

Sitting on the bank of Betwa, I was thinking how slow life is, people aren’t bothered about style, luxury, no rush only thing you can find in Orchha is Peace and culture.

Coming from a hustle life, Orchha offered me the best of History, Culture, Amazing structures and much more. I have traveled a lot and Orchha is the only city that keeps coming in my dreams every then and now.

For me a city comprises of Rivers and Temples is a Complete one.

To end this blog, I want to mention ten things I loved about Orchha,

Love: Culture, History, Architecture, Food, No pollution, Greenly, A pretty river with British Arc Bridge, People, Not expensive, Civil better than present.

I think the MP government should think more about employment and small business startups in Orchha apart from hotels and resorts to increase the income scale.

Important things for travelers

1.We stayed in Rajmahal Palace.

2.Homestays and Guesthouse would cost minimum 200INR – 1000INR

3.Homemade food is available in many restaurants.

4.You cannot buy booze in Orchha, for that you need to go to Jhansi.

5.Full day Auto can be hired for INR 300 or so.

6.You can buy a single ticket for all monuments, which can be utilized for up to 2 days.

7.Trains goes from Delhi – Jhansi, Orchha is 18km from there. I would recommend Gatimaan express.

8.Best time to visit August – Feb

9.Buy a Jio Sim as network connections are very poor.

Wait for my next blog on Work from Home life. Till then I wish you happy & healthy life.
