Chennai is one of the metropolitan cities of India. I loved visiting this place, because it reminds my hometown, Visakhapatnam, because Chennai, is the hub of beaches, indeed it has Marina Beach, Asia's second-largest beach. So, I love hanging out at this place. Being a South Indian, I have been to Chennai, quite a few times, but every time I visit, I explore the newness in the capital city of Tamilnadu.

Last year, I celebrated my birthday in Pondicherry via Chennai. It was fun, but I explored the extreme south of Chennai. But this time, I have explored the whole ECR and OMR roads. East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram road are the best roads to explore the beaches, scenic views and best places for weekend getaways.

Unexpectedly, I ended up one of the happening resorts in Mahabalipuram which is around 50 km away from the Chennai city. Yes, the traffic and the distance from one place to another place are so irritating and time taking issue. But, that day, a person who took me for a date saved the time and effort by picking me up. It was a beautiful drive in the night on the Old Mahabalipuram road. We thought of stepping into Sheraton but due to some wedding, we decided to get into Intercontinental resorts.

I loved the gloomy, dark theme with incandescent themed lighting all over the resort amidst palm trees and beach breeze. The vibes soon after I stepped down from the car are completely inexplicable. People go to resorts to chill and relax but on the contrary, I opt for resorts to have dinners in peace. I transformed from a party animal to a candlelight dinner love. It was not a candlelight dinner but the ambiance suggesting as if I was having a one.

The huge resort passages with gloomy lights on either side of the path with plants, open-air corridors, the art pieces, the gigantic halls, the cozy rooms, the relaxing music, the silent dining space, the constructed water pond and the dining seats near to it, this is the whole scene where I had my dinner that day. I felt damn relaxing and peaceful while I was walking to the restaurant.

Though the routes were long my legs weren't tired because they were enjoying every step and every moment. They say right you feel tired when your heart says that you are tired. It was kind of that moment. My heart was elated by seeing the whole scenario around me.

Of course, every five-star hotel chain comes with this kind of ambiance and the atmosphere. Most of them are heavily lit up or welcome you with grand gestures and heavy fountains or huge arts, sparkling everywhere. Unlike them, the InterContinental resort chain, thought a different theme to make its customers fall in love with space romantically.

It's kind of hard to create such a moody theme with an enormous amount of lighting and also considering the instincts around the place. The beach vibes in this place are only known through the beach breeze and one can only view the private beach behind the resort or from the suites arranged at the resort with a beach view. Hence, to bring that beach environment in the indoor space of a resort, one must plan outdoor dining space. I always love this concept in any resort space.

Fortunately, I found the same in this place too. But I loved the fact that I sat in a place where I could see the resort rooms, the long corridor with moody lights, the designed pond with water and lotuses and most importantly, the arrangement of palm trees in between the water spaces and the sides too. It may sound weird if I say that I love the dim lighting in dark spaces. Well, I placed my bum at that place to process my appetite.

As I'm not a foodie, I ordered a British beer and the Crispy Tofu with spices as a starter. The resort guys have given us a fresh baked recipe with a side of butter as a complimentary. I could still cherish everything I have done out there. Smoking a cigarette, sipping a beer and enjoying the whole space with the breeze touching my skin and I was in shorts, which made my experience even more enticing.

I don't want to say anything about the pricing of the food because every sophisticated and posh resort charge overtly to meet the standards and lifestyle choices of people. So, it says everything. But, the mood they created at the restaurant spot was amazing because it was a clear blend of both natural and artificial atmospheres but altogether it felt authentically coastal region. As the resort situated on the beach side of the Mahabalipuram road, one can feel the chillness in the air and fresh fragrance in the breeze.

After we completed our dinner, I asked my guy to give me some space to explore the resort a bit more. As I'm an art lover, I found some sculptures and craft works exhibited on the paths. Out of everything, I loved the first floor long open corridors on which I stood for a while to fill the whole scene in my naked eyes. That was breathtaking and gorgeous enough, especially when I witnessed the moon on one side and the Palm trees and the pond on the other side and straight opposite to me there were resort suites and diagonally I could see the place where I had my dinner and drink, that one table where I peacefully enjoyed the ambiance of the resort.

If nature didn't support, this place might have looked like any other posh restaurant, but the open spaces and the inclusion of natural constraints made this resort look even more beautiful than I imagined. Finally, I walked out and explored the space in those dim lights and carried off with its view. I had to leave at the end and the car left the gigantic gates of the InterContinental Resort of Mahabalipuram in Chennai.
