This is the list of places where you can go and enjoy the night sky in all its glory near pune. This is a personal compilation, thanks to a friend who is crazily in love with stars...

- Lavasa Road
The road leading all the way up to Lavasa from chandni chowk, is a brilliant place to watch the sky. You can actually go in early hours at 4am and watch the sky till the Lavasa gates open up. Breakfast in Lavasa, is a perfect way to start another day.
If you want to have your own tent and stay, then you can choose the Xthrill camps before the Lavasa city. Here you can also indulge in other adventure sports, and watch the sky in the night.
- Sinhgad fort
Leave early again and the road that leads to the fort after Khadakwasla Dam, gives you brilliant opportunity to watch the night sky. Adding to the beauty, is the Sun rise early in the morning from the fort.
- Bamnoli village
This village serves as the base village for the Vasota jungle trek. Camp here for the night beside the lake and watch the night sky in all its glory and as the day falls you can go for the jungle trek.
- Rajgad trek
Rajgad fort is among the best places to gaze the night sky. Trek, camp and get ready for the sky to glow in all its glory. Be prepared with food and water as you might not find anything except you,stars and the moon.
- Torna night trek
Torna is yet another brilliant night trek which gives you an opportunity to watch the stars while trekking and also, the sun rise when you reach the top early morning puts a smile to your face. Going in group of at least 6 is recommended for this night trek.
- Matheran
This is one of the most beautiful places around Pune. With practically, no vehicular pollution(as vehicles are banned), makes this place a superb place to watch the night sky. Take one of those resort to stay for the night and watch the night sky amidst the jungle.
- Lonavala tiger point
This is one of those places which does give you a brilliant night sky view but the place is officially closed. Someday you might not be allowed to stay and on other days it will be over crowded. Keep this in the end of your list for preferable places to watch the sky..:-P
- Sandhan valley
The is a 2 day 1 night trek in Kasara district near Mumbai. Trek for the day in the beautiful valley of shadows and then camp for the night. Going here is recommended in groups. The view of the night sky with the moon and the stars just takes you in a trance.
- Nagaon beach, Alibaug
You can stay in one of the many guest houses around the beach and be on the beach at night. This is a very calm beach and view at night is enchanting. Watch the stars and realize how significant you are in this world.
- bhandardara Dam
The Dam is located on the Nashik highway. You camp there in the night and watch the stars throw a magical spell on you.
