Until now, we’ve learnt about history and everything connected to the medieval times only through textbooks. But how about if I say that now you can actually walk through history without having to deal with bulky books or black-and-white pages that only spark boredom? Yes, the Delhi tourism department has come up with a superb idea of hosting a month-long walk festival till March 31st that will take you on a journey through the city’s most iconic and hidden landmarks to celebrate the heritage of Delhi. The capital of modern India has a rich and diverse history that spans over many centuries. The city has witnessed the rise and fall of empires, the birth and death of cultures, and the fusion and clash of religions.

The festival features a variety of themed walks, such as: Sufiyana Dilli (Dargah Nizzamuddin) - a Sufi journey at the shrine of the famous saint Nizamuddin Auliya; Delhi 6 - a culinary adventure in the old city’s famous food joints; Mehrauli Archaeological Park - a heritage exploration of the monuments and ruins from different eras; and many more. Therefore, if you’re in for an experience of a lifetime, make sure you glue your eyes to the screen and read on!

Kicking Off The Weekend With A Walk Through Time At Mehrauli Archaeological Park

The walk festival kicked off on Saturday with a guided tour of Mehrauli Archaeological Park, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Delhi. The park houses the ruins of several dynasties, from the Tomars to the Mughals, and showcases the evolution of architecture, art, and culture in Delhi.

Delhi Tourism Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj inaugurated the walk and said, “Our vision is to ensure a tourist is able to see and understand the historical marvels of Delhi during their visit to the city.”
