This is the one festival that I eagerly wait for, like the rest of the country. Yup, it's time for asli acche din aka Ganesh Chaturthi, which is a-10-day festival that is celebrated across India. I personally look forward to this time of this year, not for the traffic jams but just because this season is high on good vibrations.
I don't really care for pandal hopping but Ganesh Chaturthi is also the time when communities get together to work on idols that sometimes take months. I was expecting the usual this year when I saw this:
Giving us a clean break from those chocolate idols, comes this hearty idol that currently resides in Odisha. Made with unripe bananas, the artists also used bamboo that makes it the most beautiful Ganesha idol I've seen in a long time.
Now the environmental-friendly and recyclable materials that make up this figure are also edible. The bananas will be distributed as prasad once they are all ripe and ready-to-eat.
Now that's a great thought and a level up!
