You may have a lot of opinions about the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris, but you have to admit that you can't stop watching it. Making waves ever since it's first episode aired on October 2nd , 2020, it's just one of those shows that keeps you hooked even if you don't agree with it. However, one thing we can all agree is that we all deserve a Parisian vacation because Paris is the place to be in!
As someone who has spent almost three years in the country with Paris as it's capital, France, I can definitely give you all the secret spots you might be looking for! I've spent plenty of weekends exploring the gorgeous and happening city of Paris, so let me take you along. Let's discover the 8 locations you probably spotted in Emily in Paris now, shall we?
1. Pont Alexandre III
Stretching across the Seine to Les Invalides, is the famous Pont Alexandre III. This magnificent bridge reminiscent of the Belle Epoque is a parisian favourite and rightly so. Hence, it’s no surprise that Emily chose this beautiful backdrop for her advertising shoot. Adorned with numerous ornate sculptures, and a view of the Eiffel tower, it makes for a great historic photo spot that's Free to visit!
2. Palais Garnier Opéra
If you haven't visited the opulent Opera of the french capital, have you really visited? Emily joined the Palais Garnier squad when she went to watch the ballet Swan Lake looking like royalty. Designed by architect Charles Garnier in honour of Emperor Napoleon III, it's a real feast for the eyes. So, book your tickets (Discount Code PRAGEET8 😉) to watch a show or take a tour of the fabulous interiors for just 15€ – either way you won’t be disappointed.
3. La Maison Rose
If you tell me that you haven't seen this picturesque restaurant on your Insta-feed yet, I don't believe you! You'll see Emily visiting rue de l’Abreuvoir, possibly ‘the prettiest street in Paris’, to dine at the La Maison Rose with Mindy. Found in the artistic Montmartre district, its pink façade makes it picture perfect, and its history of famous diners including Picasso, Édith Piaf and Charles Aznavour surely add to the charm.
4. L’Atelier des Lumières
I love immersive experiences and Atelier des Lumières literally feels like you're inside a work of art (because that's where you deserve to be anyway!) Situated in a former foundry dating back to 1835, in the city’s 11th arrondissement, the Atelier des Lumières is where Emily attends a Vincent Van Gogh exhibition with Gabriel and Camille. An audio and visual feast, you need to add this experience to your Paris bucket-list!
5. Jardin du Palais Royal
Paris is home to some of the most gorgeous and splendid gardens, Jardin du Palais Royal being one of them. It’s where Emily meets her friend Mindy for the first time. This is also where you'd find monochrome striped Columns of Buren, which like Emily caused a lot of controversy when they first arrived in the city but soon won people over. P.s. it's absolutely free to visit and get some great pictures at!
6. Père-Lachaise Cemetery
I know I know, asking you to visit a cemetery on your trip to Paris sounds strange but this one's no ordinary place. At le Père-Lachaise, you'll be in the company of some of the greatest historic figures, like Molière, Balzac, Oscar Wilde, and Jim Morrison! Luc takes Emily here for a walk on her birthday in Season 2. It's a rather inspirational and beautiful place that's sure to give you a sense of calm in the midst of Paris.
7. Musée de la Vie Romantique
Rightly named, the museum of the romantic life is surely one of most romantic places in the french capital. Built in 1830, is located in Quartier Pigalle, it's found inside the house of Dutch-French painter Ary Scheffer. This is place Emily suggests Gabriel for his proposal to Camille in Season 3. The best part is that it's open to everyone for free and also has the cutest cafe attached to it!
8. Wall of Love (Le mur des je t'aime)
Montmartre is the loveliest area of Paris and that's exactly where you find this insta-worthy Wall of Love. Created in 2000 by artists Fédéric Baron and Claire Kito, this giant 40 sqaure metres wall is composed of 612 tiles of enamelled lava, featuring 'I love you' 311 times in 250 languages. Now isn't that adorable? Perfect place to get snapped with your loved ones or get crêpes from the stand right across it.
These are just a few of the incredible locations seen in the Netflix series starring Lily Collins and Paris in the lead roles! What about another one with all the iconic restaurants featured in the show? Which one are you visiting first? Tell me in the comments below.
