Planning a holiday to Phuket and want your experience to be more than just visits to the usual tourist attractions? Here are some enchanting “secret” sites that are worth heading to.
Ao Yon Beach
Some of the beaches in Phuket are not well known by tourists including Ao Yon Beach. The shoreline is in a mostly residential area and features sublime white sand bordered by coconut palms, ideal for a picnic in the shade. It is common to see yachts and boats out at sea too which add to the area’s charm.
Wat Khao Rang
When the Big Buddha in Phuket is mentioned most think of the statue on Nakkerd Hills. However, the original Big Buddha is in fact, located at Wat Khao Rangon Rang Hill! The golden Buddha at this temple is quite impressive too and you will find other fascinating carvings and statues including that of the Lord of Death (Yommaraj).
Layan Beach
On the west coast is a beach that’s often forgotten and so offers more seclusion too! Layan Beach is a great place to chill-out and enjoy laid-back living and beachside dining by the Andaman Sea.It’s also home to some of the best pool villas in Phuket, cocooned in-between azure coastal waters and rainforest-covered hills.
Koh Bon
Just a 15-minute longtail boat ride from Rawaiis the idyllic, small island known as Koh Bon. Only around 1.2 km long, it offers a slice of paradise where you can laze on the shore, experience fantastic snorkelling off the coast and savour delectable Thai cuisine at the Bon Island Restaurant.
