Phakding and NamcheI reached Phakding which is at 2610m at height and conditions started getting colder. One good thing about the EBC is that we get Tea-Houses to stay on the way with some warm blankets. Next day early morning I was ready to hit trails to reach Namche (3440M) and takes around 6 hours. That is the biggest village on the way to EBC where you can buy everything or anything you forgot to buy but if it is very important because things are way more expensive there. More higher more expensive that is the simple logic. They have also got Irish Pub there. And that is pretty awesome!
After a fulfilling breakfast, the day began with passing through Lukla village, greeting the locals, petting the pets and of course heading further on towards our 1st tea lodge in Phakding. On our way, we crossed many prayer bells and memorial stone walls. Sharing here one of the first and the biggest prayer bells, which when rotated in the clockwise direction brings good luck. Needed loads of it to make it to our final destination :)It was an exciting day, as we also crossed the 1st of the many suspension bridges. Plus a signboard that pointed us in the direction of Everest pumped up the adrenaline to the next level :)Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar.Distance : ~ 11.3 kmsElevation : Phakding (2,800m/9,200ft) toNamche Bazaar (3,440m/11,300ft)Trek duration : 7-8 hours
Lukla to PhakdingAfter landing to Lukla , we met our guide, sherpas and our porters . After lunch , we had a short trek around 2-3 hours to a place called as Phakding . Through this short trek , you will find lots of villages where you can fill water , buy some snacks if needed . As you walk to Phakding , you will realize how these mountains grow higher and they are almost unreachable by any means .
Lukla to Phakding (3/4 hrs)After a 35 min flight to Lukla (9184 ft) from Kathmandu, the trek begins through Chaurikharka village and descent towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (8300 ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkoshi River until Phakding (8700 ft). The journey can be broken for the night to acclimatize. This trail should take about 3-4 hrs.
