Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir & Nathu la Pass are on the same route and it's a one-day trip. Nathu La is a high mountain pass and ancient Silk Route between India and China. The trade between India & China is carried out by this route. It's advisable to leave early from Gangtok to reach this place as you might experience heavy traffic.
We went to Baba Mandir, which was constructed in the memory of Captain Harbhajan Singh. The temple is one of its kind and it is believed that the water near the temple is sacred and has the ability to cure illness.
There is another tourist attraction which is usually visited with the above two places is Baba Mandir. Baba Harbhajan Singh who was an Indian soldier is known to be the "Hero of Nathula" by soldiers of the Indian army, who built a shrine in his honor. He became a victim in one of the battles at the between Tibet and Sikkim. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra medal for his bravery and martyrdom
Baba Mandir :Located between Nathula and Jelepla pass at an altitude of 13,123 ft and about 52kms from Gangtok, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is popularly known as Baba Mandir. One usually covers this temple along with a visit to Tsongmo Lake or Nathula Pass.
Next visit was to Baba Mandir. This is indeed a place which would give goosebumps and this is no normal temple. The temple is in memory of an Indian Soldier named Harbhajan Singh. This is the new temple though, the old temple is on the way to Kupup.
