Bichoon Fort

This post is for all those who are running out of places to explore around Jaipur. Well, a month ago, I came across one, the untouched ruins of Bichoon Fort which lies around 50 km west of Jaipur. Our plan was to catch a glimpse of sunrise and leave early in the morning. My friends picked me up from Ajmer Highway NH 8, and left for the village of Bichoon.

After we reached the entrance of village that was marked by a huge gate, it became difficult to navigate around the narrow village roads. To figure out the starting point of the hike, look out for a white village temple, and from there you can see an ascend of around 300 meters to the fort.

The ascend is moderate and will take you between 20 to 30 minutes to reach the fort wall. It took us around 30 minutes to cover the distance as we were hiking under the full moonlight with our headlamps on. The fort wall is easy to cross and will lead you to a tunnel passage which will take you inside the fort.

We hiked in the month of January, so it was pretty windy at the top and the winter morning breeze was bliss for us. Make sure to carry a litre of a bottle as you would want to spend some time at the fort and the hike would take a toll on you.

Soon, the sun showed up, and it was a majestic sunrise to witness from the fort top. Insides of the fort are pretty similar to the ruins of Bhangarh, which is also one of the haunted places in India. Well, this fort looks a little spooky as well from a distance.

The fort of Bichoon overlooks the village, and it almost looks as if the people have forgotten about this place as there is no sign of renovation, so if somebody wants to have an untouched version of Rajasthani fort, this is the place to go. I was pleased to see that there was not even a single wrapper of waste, not even a plastic bottle. So, I would like to urge everyone who plans to check out the place in future to not to litter. We went from wall to wall and checked out all the passages of the fort. There are no roofs in the fort, only the walls are left behind, and rest is ruins.

Let's go there!

After exploring and walking the wall of the fort, we finally started to descend the hills. When we finally reached the village street, we got curious looks from the villagers, and one of them asked if we had spent the night at the fort. Obviously, we did not, and I just told him that we saw the fort from a distance once, and today we came to check out the sunrise. He saw a few pictures on my cam and was satisfied, he even invited us for breakfast, to which we had to decline as we were running behind time.

We left the village in peace and brought back some beautiful memories along with us. The intention behind this trip was to check out sunrise from a different spot, and it all turned out to be a one fun morning.
