Hey folks! We are here to share our stories which will help you to travel with your kids/ toddlers/ infants and give you all insights how can you make your travel easy and comfy with kids.
We started our trip to Iceland from Delhi and took a stopover at Helsinki for one day to avoid very long flight with our kiddo. Booked hotel at the airport itself so we dropped luggage and went for touring. Did city tour in Helsinki, roam around, did a boat tour which kids love. Visited Helsinki cathedral, Market square, Senate Square. Next day early morning we took a flight for Iceland.
Picked our car from aiport. We booked airbnb everywhere. It's the best accommodation when you are travelling with Kids and friends. We did a walking tour in afternoon and took a look and feel of whole local culture. Saw parliament and came to know about history of Iceland. In evening we explored the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. It is located just 30 minutes from Reykjavík and is easily accessed year round.
Left for Golden Circle Tour. We left early in morning and covered all below points
•Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Park
•Almannagjá and Öxarárfoss waterfall
•Geysir Geothermal Area
•Strokkur (Much-visited geothermal geyser that erupts every 8–10 min)
• Kerid crater lake and back to Reyjhavik.
There was cultural night in Reyjhavik that day so had party time, explored local culture.
Left for Landmannalaugar. It is the starting or ending point for the famous Laugavegur Trek, which leads south through the Fjallabak Nature Reserve and ends in the forested valley of Thórsmörk. Saw Windswept rhyolite mountains, a rock type that creates a full spectrum of dazzling colour. Went Fjallabak Nature Reserve.
Most popular road leading to Landmannalaugar, Sigölduleið, has such springs, and takes you past multiple stunning natural features, including Bláhylur lake, a magnificent body of water nestled in a dormant volcanic crater. On the way you will see 2 most impressive mountains, Brennisteinsalda, the “Sulfur Wave”, and Bláhnúkur, the “Blue Peak” . Visited Grænagil Canyon (very easy and rewarding hike to the canyon, suitable for those with a tight timeframe, families with children, and people who are not used to hiking.)
Night stay back to our airbnb in Reyjhavik.
Next day we cover Snaefellsnes peninsula. Stunning coastline with visits to the Arnarstapi coastal cliffs of columnar basalt (Lóndrangar and Basalt Cliffs). Visited Ólafsvík Fishing Village and Arnarstapi Fishing Village & Hellnar Arch. Along the coast, you will find Black sand beaches and lava stacks at Djupalon. North side of the peninsula, a small gold sand beach (Skardsvik) that sits at the edge of a black lava field. Visit World famous triangular Kirkjufell mountain "The church mountain", Waterfall of Kirkjufellsfoss, Búðakirkja, “the Black Church of Búðir”, Djúpalónssandur Beach and The Seal colony (Ytri-Tunga beach).
