1 day Getaway from Chennai to the magical hills of this minimal uninhabited small village 30 kms away from Kodaikanal, way further up probably.
Reached early morning to Kodaikanal, and post a tea and withdrawing cash, we took a taxi to Kookal. It is around 30 kms away from Kodaikanal and take 1 hour 30 mins roughly.
You can take your car but caution only if you have good experience of driving on hills & narrow roads as well. Else take a taxi.
Prebook a guest house on really dirt cheap prices to stay for by contacting & inquiring from your friends of Chennai/ Dindigul/Bangalore etc.
When you reach at the guest house, in a remote village into the midst of valleys, lake & a forest. A few local caretakers of the guest houses are generally present & available for you to get food cooked, and help you with any other mini- hospitality ( kitchens, electricity etc).
Suggestion : You can take MTR ready to eat food packets, fruits. Chicken etc. And the caretakers will cook them for you.
Enjoy your food, relaxing and unwinding looking at the lake and the lush green mountains with amazingly fresh air. The weather there in about December 1st was really cold and misty. They provide with blankets and also may arrange for born fire which you can also have a goodtime with the view of Valley full of trees, plantations etc.
Post chilling, relaxing and eating our food, fruits and some great unwinding we packed again, had told the caretaker & our previous taxi guy to get us picked up from the small guesthouse which was indeed very cozy.
Returning back to Kodaikanal, we had some desserts, and took some Kodaikanal special hoe made chocolates famous for being handmade, homemade with more than 15-20 flavours & combinations of dryfruits & fruit flavours.
