- The one hour drive from Paro airport to Thimphu was fantastic due to smoothest of highway coupled with dramatic mountains.
- Thimphu is a lovely , spicy and span capital of Bhutan. The skyline of thimphu is spectacular due to a simple fact the the architecture of all the buildings in Bhutan is more a less the same according to parameters set by the government.
- The park next to the bubbling river is so refreshing to watch . We spent an hour just strolling along the river and listening to the gushing sound of water flowing beneath us.
- There is a 4 point crossing with a very enigmatic policemen whose animated way of handling the traffic is a treat to watch. The way he was moving his hands to direct the traffic seemed like a perfect orchestrated dance in motion though only of his hands. I would have loved to see his feet in motion as well but it might have thrown the traffic out of gear since it would had been exemplary to watch for the drivers as well.
- We went to the post office which is very unique. We got ourselves photographed and out came real, yes real stamps of ourselves. And it costed around 200 bucks. Well with that kind of a souvenir, it's a real bargain.
- Our next spot was the enormous statue of Buddha visible from everywhere in thimphu and perched on top of a hill with breathtaking views of the nature all around . And since the place is really windy, one can get fantastic pictures of your partners hair flying everywhere.I felt like paragliding to the river below , take a dip and sun my self in the park .
- And finally the Dzong. It is huge and it's grand splendor is exquisite in its own right.
- shopping in thimphu needs deep pockets. And since I was devoid of pockets, my shopping spree was limited to the the stamps of my royal family.
