I'm sindhu from Bangalore. Trekking and traveling  have become a new passion for me the past few years and a way to know myself more . In the month of February I happened to trek through the snow-capped mountains of Brahmatal. This was my second Himalayan trek  in the Chamoli district of uttrakand . I would like to call this trek , " a snow walk". As I'm from South India and not exposed much to extreme cold conditions , this was an altogether new experience. The only reason I choose this trek was the fascination I have for snow , but later realised it's not very easy to survive in snow .

However , nature has a special charm and beauty which make you forget whatever difficulties and challenges you might face and she will show you a new path to follow . All through the trek, I walked with a strong belief that nature herself was my guide , the only thing I needed was patience to understand the meaning of the verbose she always choose to converse with. Himalayan mountains have a lot of mysteries and stories hidden. You will only know them when you go there.

I glimpsed into what a purely nomadic life meant, all four days of the trek. The only color I knew was white, the snow and the fresh winter breeze  kept mesmerising me every passing second. This journey taught me lot of things, helped me see what I'm capable of and where I stand. I had no proper sleep because of high altitude and for the most part of trek was decked in heavy thermal jackets, night snuggled inside tents and sleeping bags, with no toilets, no light , no phone calls and for a week I forgot what warmness meant. During the day time the temperature would be 5-8 degrees and at every day break we used to wait for the first rays of the sun to feel the warmth and then begin the trek. At every step of Trekking we tried further ahead, nature used to surprise us with absolutely hypnotic views, what my eyes saw truly matched the descriptions of what my heart knew as heaven. At sun set, we rushed into tents with torch because at night the temperature dipped to -8 degrees. Despite the cold weather, the night life on the mountains had a special beauty of its own, with the blanket of sky filled with stars, the soft music of the wind and you could always feel the embrace of mother nature. And once you start listening to the sweet whispers of nature, believe me , you will start understanding the purpose of your life with more clarity....
