Shanti Niketan , a Unesco Heritage Center , is a university town around 161 km NW of Kolkata .It's where crystallization of Tagore's vision took place & where Tagore scripted many great literary works & paintings.

a)Train: Board a train from Howrah /Sealdah Station for Bolpur. On an average it will take around 2 Hr 20 mins
b)By Car: This is the most feasible option if you also plan to visit adjacent areas of Shanti Niketan. It will take around 4 hrs from Kolkata
Train tickets can be booked from www.irctc.co.in.
There are multiple car rental services in Kolkata. You can also seek services of Gujral car rental services (Ph-098311 25733, 24 hrs open)

The are many hotels in Shanti Niketan. Use popular sites like MMT or Yatra Or Goibibo.
What to see?
Tips: Its an absolute must that you visit the Museum which contains hundreds Of artifacts associated with Tagore. Photography inside is a strict no no. You can also visit Kopai river & incase you are spending a week end, do make sure not to miss Shonajhuri haat (market) in Sonajhuri Forest from 4pm onwards
Massanjore Dam is in Jharkhand & around 2 hr 15 mins from Shanti niketan. It is advisable to visit this place only If you are coming by car from Kolkata.
