Amazing Food Halls from Across the World – Let’s Take a Sneak Peak

Tripoto

Food halls are typical family-friendly destinations with a massive spread of food stalls and global cuisine on offer, but there’s something for everyone with no scope to compromise! These sprawling food-hubs projecting a variety of retail food vendors and a mini version of restaurants under a common roof have blown out in the recent years. Don’t think that this will slow down anytime soon.

Whatever the approach, these advancements in the market are indicating a shift in the way food-enthusiasts want to eat and drink out, especially at a time when the restaurant market is witnessing its biggest boom in years. Dig into my list and take a look at some of the most interesting food halls from across the world –

Sited in a pleasantly revamped former tram depot to the west of Amsterdam’s old canal ring, Hallen is at the very middle of the city’s culinary space. This is a very popular spot for not just the locals, but also the tourists. Besides the main food hall – FoodHallen, there’s also a bike shop, craft shop, a theatre, and a hairdressing academy amongst several other concept stores.

This collection of affordable and colorful warehouses on Paper Island overlooks this beautiful city’s harbor. The buildings lined up in a row – with 31 vendors serving sustainable foods – allow diners to sit and eat outdoors on the pier or indoors within the big hall. Musicians and artists frequently set up their instruments so that people can enjoy live entertainment while relishing some delectable duck fat fries, local fish & chips, tacos, Italian desserts, coffee, and beer.

After being washed-out by hurricane Katrina and following a two-three yearlong renovation, St. Roch Market has re-begun its services and is stronger than ever. With its flawlessly painted white walls, high ceilings, and upright steel columns, this food hall leaves me amazed in terms of its interiors. But also, whether it is specially crafted cocktails, grab-and-go-goods, local food & drinks, or gourmet groceries, there’s everything in this market.

While this large, family-friendly market itself dates back to a century ago, a massive refurbishment brought the downtown space into modern-age food culture, with newcomers like China Café, Horse Thief BBQ, Jose Chiquito, and Wexler’s Deli. At Grand Central Market, there’s something for everyone – Eggslut, Sarita’s Papuseria, and Ana Maria are among the finest vendors (expect to wait in the queue).
