Amritsar, a serene place with lot of temples, amazing food, shopping, simplicity and friendly people around... This is my second trip to Amritsar, feeling happy and excited again.
We started at 6:30am from Gurgaon via kmp (Kundli, Manesar, Palwal) this highway is really good to travel, a breeze through of approx 80 km straight and very smooth road, no traffic. Then Sonipat, Panipat, Rajpura, Jalandhar to Amritsar. We reached via this route within 7hrs took two halts as well.
Our first halt was at Mayur Dhabha, good place to have food. You can enjoy food outside dhabha or inside in air conditioner, both arrangements are available. We enjoyed the parantha's specially tea, it was good with less of sugar. Washrooms could have been better otherwise not bad...
Our journey started again and we reached Jalandhar by 12pm.
I loved this dhabha, the food is awesome. They have a farm and using vegetables from their itself which is making the food different and yum. Sitting arrangements were good for a family, you can sit, enjoy food and take a fresh air from the farm outside, good view. Washrooms are better and clean no stinking. Visit this dhabha, it's on the way
Finally, we reached Amritsar at 3pm. The city has improved a lot if compared to 3-4 years back, well maintained and clean. They have made all the efforts to make the travel experience better and memorable with more developed roads, parking slots especially the path to Golden Temple parking, its amazing. A combination of intelligence and money, really impressed with the way it has been designed.
Another amazing experience was Courtyard by Marriott, beautiful stay and people around you from housekeeping to restro will do all the efforts to make your stay memorable. Food is awesome and stay is very comfortable. Try it and you will never stay anywhere after if travelling Amritsar.
Places to visit in Amritsar:
Golden temple we all know, try Taran Taran Gurudwara just 30min drive from Amritsar. This Gurudwara might not be known to everyone but is beautiful and huge. The sarovar of the Gurudwara is bigger than Golden Temple. Try lemonade outside Gurudwara, it's refreshing. Sharing some pics for you to get more insights why experience is must to visit
Nice temple to visit with similar set up like Harminder Sahib/Golden temple.
It is an average place. Somehow I was not so happy with light and sound show experience, it was not good as compared to one I saw in Jaipur or Udaipur.
Food joints:
Food is good but somehow service has detiorated, maybe coz of rush or some other reasons.
Food is fine, not better than Kesar but still better than others in the city.
Try lassi and milk, it's really fresh and pure. You will not get it in other cities
It's lassi is yum and full of butter, awesome experience 😊, try it
Do some shopping of aam papad for friends and family, good taste. Also try, different types of pickle from the shop near to this place. These pickles are homemade and good in taste as well. Try their masala's as well.
