Chittaranjan Park or fondly known as CR Park is the most frequented place by Delhiites during Durga Puja. However, this place has a lot more to it than just Durga Puja. This place is South Delhi can rightly be described as Mini Kolkata, where the residents are mainly Bengali. However, not many know that this place is heaven for foodies. If you are craving for authentic Bengali food, and by Bengali food, I just don't mean sandesh and fish dishes, I mean the rich tantalizing dishes to savour your taste buds. This small restaurant specializes in authentic Bengali cuisine. The menu here features delicacies like Mutton kasha, mishti doi, aloo poshto, lucchi, fish kurkure amongst other delicacies. The ambience of the place is basic but you can eat food in the budget. They also have Maa taara special thali which is a must eat if you are new to Bengali cuisine and would like to taste a little bit of everything. As the name suggests, the madly Bangalee restaurant is a famous casual dining place in CR Park. The menu features only Bengali cuisine. The interiors of the place are endearing and warm. Though the place is small and has limited capacity, the place has the old world Bengali charm with a touch of modernity. They also deliver nearby. The place has an in-depth menu with a variety of fish, rice, prawns and chicken and mutton dishes. If you are a true Bengali at heart, you are surely going here this weekend.

This eatery in CR Park is a small restaurant with limited seating but with nice décor and friendly staff. The service is pretty quick and prompt. They have fish starters, chicken starters, bhaja (fried) items, different varieties of egg and a long list of chicken and mutton dishes. They have different thalis as well: veg, chicken, fish, mutton along with special thali.

This is one of the oldest shops in CR Park market. This place is completed heaven for fried food lovers. This place is hit with Bengali folks for rolls, chops, cutlets and other dishes. It is a budget-friendly place with an impeccable taste. Their Egg devil chop is pretty famous along with mutton cutlet, Mughlai parantha and much more. The place does not have seating which we feel is one of the biggest drawbacks to enjoy these dishes. The place is open in the evenings from 5pm-10pm.

Must try: Aloo Chop, Fish chop, Rolls, Mutton cutlets, Egg devils

This newly opened place in CR Park is here to stay. This Bengali cuisine restaurant is overall spacious, clean and has a nice warm ambience. The preparations of the items are pretty good and have a good menu to choose from. They have good options for vegetarian lovers as well. One of the different aspects that you might see while flipping the menu is “Aami Bangali Chef Special” where you can get the chef special dishes from crab curry to tangram jhal , you have to place the order in advance with a minimum quantity of 5 plates. A small restaurant with a homely environment that serves authentic Bengali food. This place is located in the Alaknanda market. When you step into this eatery, you feel you are back in the lanes of Kolkata, with wooden and jute furnishings, Bengali classics in backdrop and posters of Kolkata does full justice to the name of the place. This place along with Bengali food serves north Indian as well as Chinese food. However, as the name specifies the food is pretty spicy and chilli. They have outdoor seating and home delivery is also available. They have special Bengali fish meals with varied options of thalis like Veg thali, Rohu fish thali, Pabda fish thali, Hilsa fish thali, Mutton thali, Chicken thali and Chingri thali. Well, a lot to choose from along with other grill and tandoor items both for veg and non-veg lovers.

This casual space in CR Park has café like vibe and serves north – Indian, Mughlai along with Bengali cuisine. They have biryanis and other curry dishes to satisfy your taste buds. The menu here consists of Bengali food, North Indian food and there is a nice collection of both veg and non-veg food, something is for everyone. Do try Kosha mangsho and kosha murgi for the real taste of Kolkata. The place has lip-smacking food. They have both indoor as well as outdoor seating.

We end the meal with the dessert, so my list comes to an end with this sweet shop which has been at CR Park for almost 30 years. This sweet shop in CR Park is pretty old and is famous for sweets and desserts. You can sample all the quintessential Bengali sweets. Mishti doi, sandesh comes in different quantities according to your requirements. Other specialities on the menu include chum chum, dudh pulisita bhog, chandrapuli, rosogolla, lobongo lotika and Chhena poda. They also make beetroot chops which are a rare delicacy to find.
