Situated on the western coast of Maharashtra, it is a good option for weeken outing if one gets bored of Lonavala. We were a group of 10 friends and booked 2 self-drive rental cars. Located around 140kms from Pune, it took us around 3hrs to reach Alibaug.
ROUTE TAKEN
Start on New Express Way.
Take left from Khalapur Toll Plaza.
Continue on Old Goa Highway.
The road till Khalapur Toll is in good condition. After that there is road widening work going on so the roads are in very bad condition.

Kashid Beach, Nagaon Beach, Murud Janjira Fort
STAY OPTIONS
There are numerous options available from basic dorms, Private Villas, Flats to 5-Star Hotels. Dorms are best option for students as they are very cheap for one night stay options. Good quality food is available there.
HOW TO REACH
MSRTC operates both A/C and Non-A/C buses from Swargate to Alibaug.
LOCAL TRAVEL OPTIONS
Taxis or Rickshaw are easily available. Non A/C buses ply between Alibaug and Murud Janjira.
FOOD OPTIONS
Food court just before Khalapur Toll Plaza is a good option for Breakfast and Snacks. Hotels are available neat beaches which provide nice fresh Fish items and Thali at a reasonable rate.
