2) Mawroh Boutique Homestay – Meghalaya
Located in a peaceful residential neighborhood in Shillong, Mawroh Boutique Homestay is hosted by Farida, a lady from a mixed background of Khasi, Punjabi and Naga roots. The tastefully decorated home has four bedrooms and an open balcony with plenty of greenery around. Owned and run by a mother-daughter duo, this property is fifteen kilometres from Ganpati Phule and Ratnagiri. The homestay offers vegetarian home-cooked meals made with organic ingredients. Along with car parking for up to eight cars, a small library and board games to choose from, and a doctor on call, this homestay is also pet-friendly. Other activities you can indulge in around and near the homestay include swimming in the river, walking around the farm, lazing around on the hammock and finally finish that book you’ve been trying to get through. You can go on small treks and do some birding around the property as well. The beach, temples and forts of Ratnagiri and Ganpati Phule are close by as well.

Set on their grandmother’s orchard and run by Sneha and Anuja, The Kokum Tree takes you back to the basics of simple living. An experiential homestay that is nestled in an edible forest of kokum, mangoes, cashew nuts, jackfruit, guavas, chikoos, and bananas, it is a space where people connect to themselves and each other for creative exchanges.
