I was returning from Yazali after attending the Nyishi tribes Nyokum Yullo Festival and had an opportunity to explore Guwahati for a couple of hours till I caught my flight back to Delhi.

So if you are in Guwahati waiting for your connecting train or flight, here are a couple of destinations you can cover in those few hours.

Dipor Bil is a permanent freshwater lake, in a former channel of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati.

Umananda Temple is located on an island on Brahmaputra river called Peacock Island.

To reach the temple one needs to hire boats. This temple is dedicated to Shiva and Parvati at the top of the Peacock island.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary has the highest population of the Greater Indian One-Horned Rhinoceroses in the whole world.
