Formerly known as ‘Tappaya’

Pattaya wasn’t always called what it is known as today. Legend has it that following a battle between the king’s battalion and a local tribe, that the latter surrendered to the King in this region. And so, it was named ‘Thap Phraya’ but was also referred Tappaya. However, the name finally evolved to Pattaya, which is what it is known as today.

Cool Condominium

Thailand’s 14th tallest sky-scraper and Pattaya’s tallest building, which is called the Jomtien Beach Oceanfront, is located close to the ocean in this tourist town. This 55-storey condominium offers unbeatable views of Jomtien Beach and is one of the best real estate developments in the region.

Golf Destination

Interestingly it was during the Vietnam war is rose to popularity when American soldiers set up barracks in Pattaya. It was also during this time the area was first referred to as a “strip”.
