Day 1

"Once a year, go somewhere you've never been before"

It was just a usual day in the month of November, 2020 so i decided that i would visit to some place and then I'd ended up at Purana Qila in Delhi.

INTRODUCTION

Amazingly standing in the peaceful vicinity of Indraprastha, Purana Qila/ Old fort is really a masterpiece of the ancient era. It's built on the banks of river Yamuna and spread over 1.5km of the area.

Initially,Purana Qila was known as 'Shergarh and Sher fort'. It is one of the oldest forts in Delhi. It was constructed by the Afghans king; Sher Shah Suri. This place is often identified with the site of Indraprastha, the capital of the kingdom of Pandavas from the Mahabharata. It's located near by Pragati Maidan, Delhi.

The height of the fort's wall is 18m, traverse about 1.5km and it has three arched doorways: the bara darwaza facing west, which is commonly used, the south gate which isa known as 'Humayun gate' and the last 'Taliq gate' which is often called as forbidden gate.

HOW TO REACH HERE?

The nearest metro station is Pragati Maidan which is connected to the blue line. Generally, the fort is located just 2kms away from the metro station. So you can hire an/a auto or rickshaw. Otherwise, you can also book a cab for your convenience or else by bus.

FACTS

1)The usual visiting time from 7:00AM to 5:00PM.

2)The required charge for Indians is Rs 15 and foreigners visitors is Rs 200.

3) It'll take only 1-2 hrs for whole exploration.

THINGS TO DO AT PURANA QILA

1) Enjoy the day.

2) Vist the qila-e-khana mosque within the fort.

3) Visit the Sher mandal is supposed to the place where Sher Shah Suri took his last breath.

4) Visit the museum within the premises.

5) Don't forget to watch the light show, in which you watch the brilliant presentation of the journey of Delhi from the Mughal era to British era, in india. Basically, it was started in 11th century in Delhi, the show covers the myth of Mahabharata. Some parts are also displayed in 3D.

The Hindi show is played from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, whereas the English show is also played 9:00pm to 10:00pm but on Fridays are off and the charges for the adults is 100Rs and children 50Rs( between 3 to 14).

6) Have experience with the boats in the lake.

TIPS FOR VISITORS

1) Carrying camera is allowed but you have to pay extra amount for this.

2) All precautions must be taken against mosquitoes.

Guides will be provided to the visitors to tell much about the fort who use the different languages like 'Hindi and English' to speak with them.

You can vist this place with your family, friends and partner because it will give you much amount of time to spend your entire day with them. And the most amazing part of this fort is many scenes of bollywood movies are taken from the location for example; Jannat 2, Veer-Zaara, Dil se, Chak de India, Love Aaj kal, and etc....

The Monuments like this one really show that how much we Indians are still connected to our history!
