My first foreign tour.. and that too in Mauritius.. What else could I have asked for..It was my first tour post marriage..and beginning of a new journey ..
Mauritius is an island nation in Indian Ocean.. People say " God made Mauritius before it made Man".. Once you go there, you too will believe it to be true.. Mauritius is famous for its beaches , lagoons,volcanic craters and most of all Corals..
It is filled with luxury hotels on white sand beaches with volcanic mountain backdrops..
The hospitality and the service provided by the place is appreciable..
You can just sit on the shore for countless number of hours ad won't even get bored.. Each day feels like a new one..
View of sunrise and sunset is mind blowing..
It's a place where luxury and nature have made peace with each other to give us a sight like no other..
This place offers beautiful sites like botanical gardens,adventure parks, water sports, blue crystal clear water with white sandy beaches,golf course,colonial musuems and houses ,site of volcanic craters,open church, temples, nature walks, waterfalls, walk with lions, safaris, view live corals and many other to mention...
How much planning you do before going there, it will seem to less as the place has countless things to offer..
Since we just had a week,which seemed too less as we arrived there, we tried to explore as much as we can..
We stayed in Le Meridien resort.For a couple of days we relaxed on the beach adjoining our room..We booked a garden view room at the edge of the resort which opened on the beach with complete privacy..and not a soul nearby... After 3 days, we hired a car with some other couple whom we met there.. Using Google maps, we started our journey..
Places which we found exciting enough to visit..
1.Port louis- We visited Champ de Mars racecourse..We did spend a quality time in waterfront..
2.Chamarel-
Ithouses highest waterfall and 7 coloured Earth..The phenomenon of 7 coloured sand dunes in due to cooling at different rates ..
It's a wonder by itself...
3.Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam botanical garden-
It has a huge collection of giant water lily ponds..
4. Ile Aux Cerfs-
It consists of spectacular white beaches, blue water... We did various water sports there- Parasailing, tube ride, Undersea walk which was enthralling ..Walking on the sea bed which fishes all around was such a beautiful sight to behold..
5.Trou Aux Biches-
It's sun and sea experience at a time minus crowd.. It's a beautiful beach with crystal blue water and white sands..There are also volcanic craters present there which are a marvel by itself..
6.Casela world of adventures-
It is famous as Casela adventure park which is a haven of nature, wildlife and adventure..It really is a adventure in itself.. We did wildlife Safari where we saw Ostrich, Zebra, Giraffe,white Lions and many other exotic animals and birds..
7. Citadel fort Adelaide-
Givesa picture of colonial remnants from colonial-era .. You can also get a good view of whole island from the top..
8.Marie Reine de la paix- Its an open church ..one of the types in the world.. Many bollywood movie had been shot here..
Apart from this, we di visit few musuems related to ship making, diamond making .
We got a chance to witness live corals while on a speed boat ride..
A week seemed too less.. We wanted to stay more.. Hopefully someday will again get to explore this peaceful,relaxing and adventurous place...
