It was much needed trip after COVID crisis,
Trip started from Delhi. It was 3 night trip.
Total cost for two people around - INR 40000.
Flight cost INR 15000
Hotel - in Gangtok - Lemon tree INR 7000 as we book 3 meal in package. (There are many budget hotel & best hotel is Mayfair but it's very costly.)
In Lachung - Himalayan residency - INR 6000, it also includes 3 meals. Hotel is decent family hotel. Best part is its location - adjacent to river & it's food - total home made food taste.
(There are no 4 or 5 start hotel in this area as it's a small village & surrounded by Army area).
Best time to visit - February - March ( for snowfall). In winter due to heavy snowfall raids are closed.
Sikkim is plastic free state - for Lachung no mineral water bottle is allowed. You can take steel bottle or water bottle used in Home.
So, we started from Delhi early & reached Siliguri by 9.00 am. We booked cab & traveled to Gangtok, it's capital of Sikkim. It took 4 Hrs to reach the Hotel Lemon tree - distance from sikkim was 125 km.
By the time we reached - it was lunch time. So we took the lunch & take some rest.
As we started early, rest was needed for health.
In evening we roam around the local market & famous MG Road of gangtok.
This day we halt at Gangtok.
If you have time - you can also visit famous Changu lake where you can enjoy Yak ride.
Today after breakfast in hotel, we move ahead towards Lachung valley.
Please ask your driver to arrange state permit for Lachung & zero point. Without this - travel is allowed. Aadhar card is mandatory along with photos of all passengers.
It's 100 km from Gangtok & located in North Sikkim. If you come to Sikkim & not visited Lachung & Lachen in North Sikkim, you have missed the most beautiful scenic experience.
So, after 4.30 hrs journey, we reached Himalayan Residency hotel in Lachung.
As its a Hilly terrain, don't eat heavy before starting the journey.
In way to Lachung there are many water falls. It's a joyful roadtrip to Lachung.
The final day - to zero point - land of snow.
We started early morning around 7 -8 am - as its 3.30 hrs journey & located at height. It's around 1.30 hrs ahead of Yumthang valley.
We were lucky that in night Lachung has got fresh snow fall, so all trees along the road were covered with snow. It's like fairy tale.
When we reached Zero point - OMG - showfall started.. it's our 1st experience to witness the live showfall.
It made our trip a success. Dream come true...
After spending 3 hrs, we returned back with memories which will stay with lifelong.
From Lachung to Siliguri - around 8 hrs journey.
Sikkim has one airport but flights are costly compared to Siliguri.
