Total distance – 900 kms

Average Speed – 65 kmph

Total days – 4 to 5

This is one of the best circuits in South India. You will be traveling through forests, mountains and rivers. I covered it in 4 days on my RE TB 350. I believe 4-5 days are enough for this trip depending on how much time you want to spend in each place. You would be traveling mostly on NH 44, 48, 79 and 32.

Day 1 halt – Yelagiri

Day 1 ride – 160 kms

Day 1

Stay- There are awesome home-stays near the Nilavoor lake where you can have a bonfire and enjoy your night. They will cook really nice and homely food for you. You can enjoy it with a glass of whiskey/wine and with the cold wind of peace. If you are lucky then your mobile network won't work to disturb you.

Places to Visit- Nilavoor lake, Swamimalai Hills, and Jalagamparai Falls. There are not much scenic place to roam around and get tired. So spend more time in your stay and near the lake.

Day 2 halt – Pondicherry

Day 2 ride – 260 kms

Day 2

Stay- Good accommodation can be availed both in Pondi as well as Pondi-TN border which is approximately 2 Kms away from Rock beach. You may find some peaceful and economic Dorms in Kottakuppam and Kuilapalayam.

Places to Visit – Top 4 beaches are Rock Beach, Paradise Beach, Serenity Beach and Auro beach. Sunrise at Serenity gives a perfect start to your day. Then you can head towards Rock Beach for delicious breakfast. The French Colony is exactly adjacent to Rock beach. There may be some events going on in the morning at Rock beach. Best Pubs n Cafes are all there in the French Colony. Try Ebony Truffle at Zuka Choco-la

Paradise Island beach provides you wide range of water sports. The journey to it is also amazing. You may choose a Ferry boat or a Speedboat. There are a couple of shacks on the beach which will serve delicious food. And yes, you will get beer, but mostly not chilled.

Day 3

Day 3 halt – Yercaud

Day 3 ride – 237 kms

Stay- Yercaud has a nice lake and most of the hotels are near it starting from Rs 800.

Places to visit- Though there is a fall(Kiliyur), Botanical garden and Pagoda Point, I didn’t find any of it interesting. Probably too much safe and family kind. You may choose Paddle Boats available in the lake or may choose to spend some time in the zoo near the lake for a lazy evening.

The best part of Yercaud is the lone ride through the dense, scary and unexpected forest, especially in the morning. You can find 2 routes from the NH to Yercaud. Go by taking a diversion from Salem and return by the other route.

Day 4 Trip ends – Bangalore

Day 4 ride – 216 kms

Day 4

Start your return journey by 5.30 am. You would follow a 30 kms loop road inside the forest where you would be riding alone. You would love the thrill of the unalloyed calmness and unanticipated appearance of creatures from the mist. You reach Bangalore by 10.30 am.
