Day 2

Taking your first solo trip can be scary and overwhelming. And if you're planning your first solo to spiti then I guess it's just scary. I read few blogs about spiti. Life in the spiti valley during winter  is tough. When I say tough, I mean extreme cold. But I so desperately needed a break from my monotonous corporate life, I decided to go alone and I knew it would be fun.

I bought bike spare parts. I didn't really decide the place where I would be staying on a particular day as it all depends on the weather conditions.
I started my journey from Noida on Sunday 23 December. Day 1 destination was Shimla. I reached Shimla around 6-7 pm.

Day 3

Shimla to Sarahan is around 160 km. I didn't really had a plan going to Sarahan because it is 17 km off the track . But once you get there and ask locals they suggest going to Sarahan and visiting the BhimKali Temple. You can skip it if on clock

On my way to Sarahan, after crossing Kufri I had a minor accident due to black ice and I was going at a speed around 70-80 km/hr. Although the road was not icey but the road with bit of mountain shadow had black ice. I had my breakfast at Rampur, a small and commercialized village with very sweet and gorgeous crowd xD.

I stayed in a hotel in Sarahan. Had couple of drinks , met few locals in bar and  But I was happy knowing that the road to Kaza is open.

Day 4

Sarahan to Nako.
Day 3 was totally unplanned, what I had in mind was Pooh. I left Sarahan around 7 in the morning to join the Sutlej river running beside me

After travelling for 1 hour, I had my usual chai  break and this was the point (Tapri) where I planned my entire trip from now on.

I stayed here a bit longer since the family living in this place had idea about the weather condition ahead. I told them that I want to reach Kaza tomorrow so they adviced me to reach Nako by evening.

Day 5

Nako to Kaza
The weather was so cold in the morning I had difficulty starting my bike. So waited for the sun 🌞 to rise. The couple gave me company had to return as the road was icy 🥶. Till now the journey didn't seem that tough but the road to Kaza is scary if you're a solo traveller as at some point you don't see a single person within 5 km radius.

As I was reaching kaza the temperature keeps on dropping aa the time and distance passed Reached kaza around 4 in the evening

Now there are 2 route to Losar one from Kibber and other is from Kaza, so instead of going back I decided to go from Kibber. After travelling 4-5km I had to return as the road was blocked

It was too steep to cross

So I went back to Kaza and Losar was 80 km so I decided to take the risk
The road for 40km was excellent I covered it in no time going over 90km/hr, And gave lift to a lady in nearby villages till this point and I asked if the road is same to Losar and she said yes maybe she didn't have the idea
Going over 70km/hr I saw icy in front of me tried to slow it down before I hit the icy road bt couldn't stop in time so I had a major accident and luckily nothing happened thanks to my protective guards

Temperature was dropping to -25

After this point I was on ice for few miles with no-one around within few miles of radius.

I thought of spending the night here since I had liquor with me

I was scared to death and than saw a car passing and they inpired saying you come too far few more miles
And I reached the village and the Village seem abandoned And than I with my bike rep , kids of a family came from somewhere and I asked them to show the way to their house❄️❄️
The temperature dropped to -28° the time I reached Losar and body was freezing even though I had pile of coat on me

From here journey back to home started
Losar -> Nako
Nako -> Chitkul
Chitkul was not in the plan but one of my friend was also going to spiti so we decided to meet at Chitkul
