Wind blowing through your hair on a mountain top, a steaming cup of chai in front of you, and rolling green hills as far as your eyes can see. If this isn't the perfect workstation, then I don't know what is!
Everyone knows that WFH means 'work from home', but I found a different meaning to the acronym recently and because I'm not a selfish person, I will happily share the new-found meaning with all of you.
WFH now means 'working from the hills'! If city life is taking a toll on you and the charm of working from the hills, clad in warm pyjamas and sipping on a warm beverage is too strong to resist, here's an experience to take inspiration from!
Where and how?
The best thing about working with a travel company is that travelling is always appreciated. So, we decided to take an overnight journey to Mukteshwar to accomplish our dream of working from the hills. Here are all the details:
• We boarded a bus from ISBT (Anand Vihar) to Kathgodam. The journey was fairly smooth except the uncool music choices of the driver.
• After reaching Kathgodam at around seven in the morning, we took a cab till Mukteshwar. The journey is about four hours long but the views will keep you entertained.
• We stayed and worked out of Zostel Mukteshwar for a day (Friday), and explored the hill station over the weekend.
Things to do in Mukteshwar:
Food:
There's no dearth of cafes in Mukteshwar. From local regional food to international favourites, you'll find a cafe at almost every corner. Rock Cafe, Chirping Tales Cafe, Nirvana Organic Kitchen and Cafe Chandi Mati are some of the few we visited.
Explore:
• Visit the Mukteshwar Temple: The Mukteshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. After climbing a series of steep stairs, you reach the sanctum that is surrounded by idols of Vishnu, Brahma, Ganesh, Parvati, Hanuman and Nandi. It is a vital place of worship for Hindus.
• Hike to Bhalu Gaad falls: Situated in the Dhari village, this waterfall is fringed by numerous caves, small rock formations and thick forestation. The hike to the waterfall is easy and about two kilometres long.
• Chauli ki jali: Cloaked in Hindu mythology, these overhanging cliffs are a perfect spot for adventure lovers. You can try your hand at hair-raising experiences such as zip-lining, rock climbing and rappelling here.
So, put on your convincing hat and show this your boss. Plan your next WFH because city life can get difficult and while I do understand that we can't always run away from our problems, sometimes, just sometimes, a change in the landscape can work as a cure.
