The Journey started Early Morning on a bike from Manipal, a town near Udupi. Its around 90 kms, but I have the habit of taking a longer route to cover more places and have more experiences.
Moving through the empty roads and enjoying the scenic beauty of Karnataka on the way, we crossed through the lush green forests, fields and mountains.
Being in Karnataka, its very common but fascinating to see these hanging bridges everywhere. Its like they are one of the major way of connections in the villages. While crossing a village, we came across this beautiful Bridge which was out Mid-stop for the drive. We relaxed and enjoyed a bit in the water here and moved ahead in the afternoon sun.
Kudremukh has a 40 km stretch between two police posts without any amenities and just a nature trail. The main amenities are away from the post too and was not on my way also. We drove around 100 km to reach there and assumed to cross the trail successfully with whatever fuel was left and find something on the other side. The scenic beauty of the Estates was just breath taking and we also visited some locals. The maintenance of these estates so nicely done. We never wanted to leave the place but it was just a day trip.
On our way back at around 20 km from one post ,our fuel got over and we were left alone in middle of forest without any help coming up. We pulled the bike for around a kilometer or two and it was difficult. It was getting dark and we were getting worried.
But the adventure had to play a role here, we found some boys on their bike coming from behind and stopped to help us. They borrowed my stole and tied our bike to theirs. And just asked us to sit and let them drive for us. The pumping heart but the quest for this adventure was battling within me. I wanted to do this but didn't wanted to take a risk too. They ensured us to trust them and I don't know how, we did.
I think it was the best decision We took at that moment. If We hadn't, then would have stuck there for the night and missed this beautiful experience in my life. I always cherish this drive through woods and love making some new adventurous friends like this.
Travelling freely with a risk of giving your life to throw these adventures towards you and your guts to accept them and learn so much from them is all part of the journey. These small experiences and memories makes all the stress and tiredness worth.
Kudremukh is a really untouched and beautiful place to visit in Karnataka. The hill stations in Karnataka has so much to offer for tourists. They are waiting for more people to visit them and enjoy the beauty they offer but also requests everyone to travel cleanly and respect the nature.
