Rishikesh is known as the "Gateway to the Gods," and is believed to be the place where Lord Vishnu defeated the demon Madhu.

Rishikesh is a perfect destination for a short weekend trip from Delhi NCR. This ancient city located in the state of Uttarakhand has something for all kinds of travellers.

There are numerous temples and ashrams dotting the city's landscape for the pilgrims. The city, known for its stunning natural beauty, with the Ganges river flowing through it, surrounded by the Himalayan foothills would mesmerise the nature lovers who can hike among lush green forests and bathe in the waterfalls. For the ones who love to feel the rush of adrenaline, there are ample options for adventure sports like river rafting and bunjee jumping.

A brief itinerary of 2 nights and 3 days would be like:

Day 1: Travel from Delhi NCR to Rishikesh (4-5 hours), hike to the Patna waterfalls , Experience the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, explore the local markets. Retire for the night.

Day 2: Visit the Neergarh waterfalls , Visit Vashisht rishi ashram, travel to Haridwar (20km) and visit the Mansa Devi temple and experience the Ganga Aarti. Return to Haridwar

Day 3: Indulge in River rafting , Visit the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, visit the Kalikund waterfall and start return journey to Delhi NCR.

In this Video I have summarised my 2 nights and 3 days trip plan of exploring Rishikesh-Haridwar.
