Last month, I happened to see a post on Instagram and found this little slice of heaven: Raindrops Resort in Wayanad.

Was it the beautiful drone shot of the pool or the food they served, or the green outdoor breakfast photo I liked that lured me to book their stay, I am not sure but I am so thankful for giving myself that gift and booking the stay!

I reached Raindrops resort on a balmy day. Vipin, their manager welcomed us with refreshing watermelon juice and fresh towels. They checked our temperature, and gave us sanitisers and helped us check into the room.

The room was SO neat. We had picked the luxury cottage and it had its own balcony which was facing the beautiful paddy fields. I could spend the whole day here, I thought to myself. The room had a large four-poster bed and the happiest part of my stay: A large sunk-in bathtub.

We were famished and we ran to the dinning as soon as we checked into the room and freshened up. They served us an unforgettable meal in a banana leaf. 'Sadhya' as they call it. It was a four-course meal with pachadis and payasams and it was just like how my grandma would make it. That kind of meals deserves a fine afternoon siesta. We dived into the neatly laid beds and dozed off to a blissful sleep only to be wakened up by birds singing outside the room.

We got ready and left for a plantation walk with Vipin. Hearing his stories and the stories of the land, we walked through narrow bridges and through the paddy fields. Saw the sunset during the walk and it was so marvellous that I promised myself that I'd see more sunsets in future.

It was our anniversary and they had arranged for a surprise candlelight dinner. How thoughtful is that? We reached and the candles were lit and we had a perfect meal under the stars. When resorts go out of the way to be incredibly sweet like this, how can you not love them?

If you visit Raindrops resort, Here are a few things you absolutely must experience

- The candlelight dinner by the pool

- Try Veg Kizhi

- Have a sunny outdoor breakfast under the canopy of trees

- The plantation walk with Vipin

- Take their cycle and go for a spin in the paddy fields

- A cooking class with chef Vipin

Details about Raindrops

They have 13 rooms and we stayed in the luxury cottage. They also have another category called a premium cottage.

We paid Rs 7400 for a night for the luxury cottage (and it was totally worth it)

I was told that the premium cottage is Rs 5400.

Raindrops resort is about 230 km from Bangalore and it's situated very close to the main town of Sultan Bathery.

I didn't have too many pictures from my stay, but thankfully their instagram is loaded with pictures of experiences similar to mine. Check them out and you'd thank yourself for it.
