Also known as Gorakhshpur, this is a town on the banks of the beautiful Rapti River. This is in the eastern part of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the Nepal Border and is on the eastern side of the state capital of Lucknow. This place is also known for the Gorakhnath Temple or the Gorakhnath Math dedicated to Lord Shiva and thus is a Hindu worship place. The Buddhists also find importance here as Lord Buddha attained Parinirvana here and also breathed his last in Kushinagar which is near Gorakhpur.
