The major time of planning of my honeymoon was spent answering to friends and family. Everyone seemed to be so overwhelmed by the idea of Thai, French or Swiss honeymoon that Australia looked like a exotic choice to them. With dozen of questions lingering in my mind, I headed for one of the costliest cities in the world, SYDNEY.
As they say, don’t let the outside noise suppress your inner voice…it was true this time as well. All my skepticism vanished the moment I lurked from my window seat (yes, I was that lucky). The first view of Sydney harbor that hosts the Opera house and Harbor Bridge is no lesser than seeing your love after a long separation. We decided to save majority of our travel time by staying in the center of all action – the CBD area. The best part of the city tour was that it was completely self-guided. It is highly recommended to get an Opal card for metro and bus use. It is accepted in slow ferry from Sydney-Manly route and comes with a daily cap of 15 dollar.
We started the trip by giving ourselves enough rest and leisurely walking down the Sydney streets. The city has an old European vibe. It’s a good place for foodies if you like ham or bacon. One should try the famous FISH & CHIPS.
Manly is another beautiful suburb of Sydney connected by ferry. We took a slow ferry around 5 p.m just to ensure we will make the return tour after sunset. It gives you the opportunity to see the harbor in light and dark. I must say the Manly beach is prettier and more serene than Bondi. From Manly we made a short walking tour to Shelly beach followed by Ben & Jerry's ice cream (yes, the name made famous by Salaam Namaste. The scene right before the song Paune 12 baje)
The night view from ferry is out of the world with seagulls following the ferry to the wharf.
The next in line is the Sydney opera house. Don't stop by watching it from far. Do walk all the stairs and touch the marvel of Architecture.
The next day was a laidback one. We explored the Darling harbor area that host Sydney's 5 attractions. This place is also the home to many restaurants and major business centres. One more tip....free wifi is available here
Second day started with visiting the world famous Bondi beach. Unlike most of the days, sunshine choose to be stingy. A little bit of downpour and lot of wind gave way to surfers to fully utilize the huge waves. My father’s umbrella could make it’s way to Sydney since we made an effort to fully know the weather forecast beforehand. Like an unusual sight, Bondi was uninhabited.

It was already time to go back to the hotel and pick up the luggage and head to the next destination with lots of memories to cherish for lifetime. Thanks to this beautiful city for bursting my myth bubble. People here are exceedingly hospitable, quite opposite to what I heard.
