After spending whole day at home just doing nothing on gandhi jayanti, we planned our road trip late night( discussion happening midnight) for the very next day morning with little or no idea.
We started our journey at 6 am in morning from dharwad to badami caves and soon we got our first surprise for almost unplanned road journey. 30 kms ahead after we started we were hit by a broken bridge in flooded condition with no other route option showing in Google map.
We tried to find some alternate route on Google but landed with no options. After discussing with locals and finding no other way, we decided not to take risk of crossing bridge and dropped our plan!!!!!! another surprise of the day waiting for us....
Something is better than nothing!! This mantra really worked for us..
While returning back, we decided to take any random turn and moved ahead for next 10-15 km and then reroute the Google map to show some alternative route for badami caves..
Here we go!!..Plan was executed perfectly and finally we were moving ahead towards our destination..
As a suggestion Always start early in morning for your road trips to deal with these type of surprises, you will still have enough time to enjoy for rest of the day..
After a wonderful drive and some scenic villages on the way, we reached badami around 11 am..
As u enter the premises, need to pay entry fees which is 40 bucks / person. Make sure ur paytm is working because only digital payment due to covid protocol..
There are basically 4 caves one over the other, need to climb 60-70 steps for each cave to explore,but it's worth..
Important things to know before you visit Badami caves:
# Be aware of monkeys inside promises, very dangerous to carry hand bags or any valuable item.
# Carry sufficient water bottles, no shops inside primises
# Fooding option : Can try some local foods, in our case we went to Clark's Inn a 3 star hotel nearby due to pandemic situation.
# Time to visit: September to February
