As the weekend approached, I started to prepare myself for yet another ride. Since I have started to ride with BBB, I now comfortably rely upon the group for the itinerary, which I must say is of great help. I now just have to take care of my belongings and of my bike.

Winters in the south are pleasant and offer great weather for bike rides. This Sunday the group had planned to keep the ride short yet beautiful. The location decided was Dandiganahalli Dam, which is at a distance of just 90 kms from Bangalore.

Beep! Beep! Beep! It was 5 in the morning and my alarm went off! Reddish painful eyes, but too small a problem to hold me back from the trip. This is usually the time when all the riders(though I don't consider myself qualified enough or experienced enough to be called a rider) at their toes. In took me around 20mins to freshen up, take a shower and then to get going.

All set to leave!

Waiting at Silk Board

After a brief wait at Silk Board of about 5mins, we got going. As per schedule, we had almost 90 kms to travel and had just over 2 hours to reach the dam. We took the road to the Hebbal Flyover, then to Devanahalli and finally to the Bangalore-Hyderabad Highway. There is an alternative route which is a just after the Hebbal Flyover, which I wouldn't recommend unless and you have planned for some Off- Roading.

It took us about 2 and half hour to reach the dam. The last stretch of about 8kms has no road and is a perfect place for mild off road ride. It was about 7:30 am by the time we reached and the sun had just come up.

Upon reaching the dam we saw a few people who were chilling next to a bonfire which was breathing its last. What we could infer was that they had a party the previous night next to the dam.

A cool windy morning with some birds chirping around is something that everyone in the group had wished for. It was quite satisfying to have this wish come true once we reached the dam. This place is a perfect mixture of some off road ride, some trekking and a serene place to sit and relax. The place turned out to be great with a majestic view which came up well up to our expectations.

Engulfed by the beauty of nature, we decided to stay a bit longer than what we had initially planned. The stroll by the side of the dam in the morning sun was such relaxing that it became a new hobby which I would like to do a bit more often. We walked, we sat by the dam, we spoke and we strengthened our bonds.

This place is also recommended to those who wish to spend time camping for a night or who look for a laid back lazy weekend.

We were here till 9:30 and soon we started to feel the need to have some breakfast.

By about 11 am we decided to stop by and have some breakfast. Attracted by the appearance and ambience, we decided to stop at Indian Paratha Company, commonly known as IPC, and have some North Indian Punjabi Breakfast.

Once we were done with our breakfast, we were headed back to our respective homes. By about 1:30 we reched our respective homes. This is how a wonderful, calm and soothing ride came to an end.

Will soon be back with yet another story of an all new place. Good bye till then. ????????
