Day 1

When I try to look out for any place,my heart looks for two. the greens and the heritage. If we discuss about heritage,we can find a fluidity into it. Such as heritage is one abstract notion and it explainsor affects the meaning to different individuals; differently. But in short, heritage talks about an landscape,a site, an ecosystem as well as one overall experience. In my case ,heritage is what makes our country so special. The identity which is created by merging of different Reigns, different rulers and different styles.

It is almost one and a half year that I have been staying in Bangalore and whenever I feel my mountain craving, quickly I try to go to Nandi hill, but this place I have heard of very recently so I couldn't miss the visit over there. Karnataka is a state with full of temples and their different architectural magnificence. Hoysala, Badami chalukya, Vijayanagara, Dravidian,Rastrakuta are few of them. I have seen Shiva temples mostly here. Bhoga Nandishwara Temple is one of them.

Bhoga Nandishwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is not far from bangalore. It is around 60 Kms in the district of Chikkaballapur near Devanahalli. The temple complex is now protected by the Archeological survey of India. If you are lover of Indian heritage then definitely You are going to spend adoring the whole experience over there

Multiple dynasties ruled over the area but the most important fact is nobody has imposed its own cultural stamp on this temple. But you can definitely identify their own mark properly at a perfect place  The original structure and asthetic beauty has stayed upon just since the time of inception. This 9th century structure has been built by indigenous Nolamba Raja( Nolamba Dynasty), whose capital used to be in Andhra Pradesh. After that Ganga King Marasimha took over and then the cholas. But all the structural differences are effortlessly merged upon each other. You will get that striking structure of Dravidian Architecture.. I could visualise the mini shore temple structure when I was getting down from the car , due to presence of decorative stone windows and entrance.  One big chariot you can see while you walk inside.. and that will transform you to the time of Indian Architectural marvel.

The temples are dedicated to Uma maheshwara  and Bhoga Nandeeshwara..(Lord shiva and Goddess Parvati)- which depicts the story of their youth. The Arunachaleshwara - the childhood phase of Shiva and  Yoga Nandishwara at the top of nandi hills depicts about the matured Shiva.

There is one breathtaking pond named Shringi Tirtha with emerald green water and rock cut steps at four sides and just like all other Dravidian temple.. You will find one gopura when you step inside the temple as an example of Pallava influence.

The stone carvings on the temple wall is beautiful and more and more time you look at them, you would feel an enormous happiness inside. After a fulfilling day we came back in the evening. it took total 5 hours for the to and fro journey.
